Can't really compare. Baseball players develop very differently than NHL ones do, and their draft is SO much more of a crapshoot. You rarely see guys come into the league at a young age and do anything significant as well, unlike the NHL. Mike Trout and Bryce Harper are outliers, not the norm.

I think only 2 out of these 4 players will be on the starting lineup:
Laich
Greening
Holland
Michalek

Marner and Hyman will fill those two spots.

Marner is too good to be sent down again. It won't help his development playing with kids another year. He'll crack the line up but will be protected. IMO

I haven't seen him play much at all but we will soon.

I guess I think of him as a tougher Komarov with some skill, not a Colton Orr.

The 4th line for the Islanders was pretty effective with hits and points.

There is just no way Marner can go back down....I think that would be a bad decision.

12-15m a night at the NHL level will be much better for his development.

Okay...not bad because hard hitting 4th liner is definitely a need but I was hoping for more.

Have you watched him play a lot?

Greening, Laich, Martin should be fun to watch at least.

they should let jose walk and try to up EE on a 4 or 5 year deal IMO

Yeah and we have the cap space to afford sending any of them to the minors. So at the end of the day, regardless of their crappy contracts Babcock gets to pick all 13 forwards that he wants.

I don't think they would screw up their careers and lose the possibility of getting an extra pick at the deadline.

So with Holland being the only one going down, we need trades!

It just seems like Marner has kicked so much ass that he'll make it impossible for them to send him back to junior. They can shelter him, lend him to the Team Canada juniors if they want. As part of a group of rookies, Matthews sure as poop is some good shelter for Marner, not to mention Nylander. The heat can be spread around. Who knows, but his junior performance was just so ridiculous I can't bet against him moving up for good.
