Agree completely with the lack of experience. Nylander will produce on the Leafs in this coming year -count on it. He wasn't 100% health in the Marlie's playoff run last year and his short stint on the Leafs was impressive - with limited support from a talent thin team. He was one of the best picks in 2014 - should have gone top three. Only the pick by Detroit (Larkin) compares. Marner is destined to be a solid NHL scorer - he probably starts on a third line but who cares? He has nothing to prove in junior and will not be there.

Yup..

But i dont think it matters where the play. I think the Leafs will roll 3 lines with a vet on each line. Then have an energy 4th line.

I think im not going to like Martin. If hes the only (frank)er on the team who can't skate its going to be hard to watch him.

Babcock has a history of sending talented players back to juniors. Marner isn't very strong on the puck just yet...we will see how he fares!

I agree with you that Martin is a weak skater - he has led the league in hits - between him and Komarov, opposing teams will receive some punishment. You will like him when he beats the poop out of Marchand and any other weasel that runs our goalie.

The way I rolled those lines, was basically off skillset and or experience. Martin may be thrown around with the young guys here and there, but ultimately shouldn't be anything more than a 4th line energy guy.

Can't really use Babcock as an example here - He never had a lottery pick LIKE EVER!!
While he coached Detroit. So, talent level comparison is not in the same ballpark. Marner is way better than anything Detroit had to work with under Babcock.

im counting on that.

the league is so different compared to even when Orr and McLaren were on the team. Almost every night you knew there was gonna be a scrap, and they were going to win that fight.. I've always been for fighting, but im over the staged fights. I think they should have to put up a minimum 10pts to be in the league. You have to be able to kill penalties and play 10 mins a night. Last year the only fight i really remember was Kadri. Komarov got attacked a couple times hahaha..

As a prospect of under 20? Perhaps.

As a player overall... he's far from that level yet.

I like the pick up. Philly wiped out almost half of McDavid's season last year by gooning him. Need at least one guy to make sure if a team takes liberties with Matthews, Marner or Nylander someone will pay. Not a total deterrent by any means but still a deterrent,

Agreed. Players develop at different paces. So each player should be looked at on their own merits.

Michalek is broken now, too many injuries. At least someone like Greening can play a decent enough game to hold his head above water for an entire season. Time for Michalek to hit the "Bbuyout Bay" resort on Robidas Island

Yes as a prospect under 20 - a raw talent. You can talk about all the great Detroit picks such as Zetterberg, Lidstrom, Datsyuk or Franzen - but none were lottery picks and all required more time in the minors. Nothing is for sure here, but the kid was the best player (by a wide margin) on the best junior team in Canada last year.
