Joe Hicketts is a fine defenseman. His coach overplayed him (and others), which was one of the reasons they lost. Playing any player for more than 80% of OT, unless that player is Wayne Gretzky or Bobby Orr, is just plain bad coaching.
It's not so much hating on Hicketts as it is hating on his coach' favoritism. - jmatchett383
I understand that every team has its leaders and that you expect them to produce. But he ran Hicketts and Virtanen into the ground even after Virtanen was struggling. Meanwhile, guys like Konecny (who a lot of non-Flyers fans were raving about) got chewed out for carrying the puck into the offensive zone. Hockey Canada has issues at the top, and they never seem to get solved.
Edit: With the talent that Canada possesses in the CHL, there is no reason that they should ever get anything less than a bronze medal every year.

It wasn't only Hicketts, his mistrust in about 70% of the roster that he got to hand pick is what infuriated me about him.

And honestly, even a bronze is a bit of a disappointment. Its no surprise that Canada seems to underperform at the global stage.
I have always thought it would be really hard for me to see a trade of Simmonds over the next 3 years given all he brings on the ice and also all he brings off the ice.
I was at this game, and the penalty on Gus was atrocious. I turned to my friend and said, "The only fitting way for that call would be if we kill it, spring him from the box and he scores on a breakaway."
Was one section over from this. As bad as that video looks, there's others out there showing what led to it. It was justified. And that ginger in the white hoodie gets smoked by the Rangers fans.
