Dumba (10G, 26 PTS) signs 2 years @2.55M.

As I said, Ceci will get under 3 for 2 years if he doesn't sign long term (5-6 years)

I'
- DeflatedPucks[m sure with a guy like Crosby in the middle he could

But in all seriousness, I know its within reach. Just only 4 players hit 40 last year, 3 the year before and 3 the year before that (Ovechkin did all3) With the way scoring is coming down, I'm skeptical

I agree it wouldn't be easy, but Hoffman has a shot like Stamkos although I would argue a faster release.

Pair him with a guy like hall or Duchene and he would be amazing

I'd keep Pageau over Hoffman, I think today he's a better hockey player and at age 27 is going to be one of the better 2 way centers in the Eastern Conference.

I think next year Pageau is going to be a bigger impact player for Ottawa then Hoff is.

But I still like Hoff, just like Pageau more.

You have to ignore Tuna when he starts rambling.

If Hoffman gets traded before the NTC kicks in, and that is a BIG HUGE IF, it'll be for a huge return. This bit of sky is falling mentality is being carted out now by the perpetually negative Sens trolls who were mad about arbitration last year and thought Hoffman would win then, then when proven wrong they took Hoffman'd arbitration filing this year as proof that he hated Ottawa's mythological cheapskate ownership and management, and now when proven wrong again, they'll be shouting from the hills that Hoffman will be traded before the NTC kicks in so they don't have to pay him, and this despite all the evidence which shows that Ottawa doesn't let players walk over money. Just a couple weeks ago, Tuna was bleating on about how there was no way Ottawa was signing Hoffman, he'd be walking for nothing, blah, blah, blah. And when Hoffman doesn't get traded next year, they'll quietly retreat to their caves to lick their wounds and wait for the next conspiracy theory to bubble up.

Case and point, he stated in writing that Smith is a more important part of the core than Hoffman. Smith is a replacement level NHL player who got hot for half a season, and when he regresses to like 11-12 goals this year, that'll be that. Can't take a guy seriously who tries to sell snake oil.

Hoffman does have defensive issues of course, he's not a perfect player. I'd like to see him use that speed a little more often. That said, I do think that a huge part of his issue last year was how the coach utilized him, and by extension forced the entire team to play a broken system that ran counter to their collective skill sets. This is a very fast team that should control possession, but he didn't play them that way. Bad coaching strategy, bad practice habits, bad on ice results.

There are people out there who are sleeping on the Senators, not taking them seriously. They're in for a rude awakening. They've got an offensive minded coach who is a PP specialist with some of the best offensive weapons in the league. Factor in the shrunken goalie equipment and Ottawa will be scoring en masse this year. People are gonna gripe about the blueline and how bad they were last year, and people think that Dion Phaneuf is terrible, but remember that for the first 40ish games last year, they had Cowen and Wiercioch and Borowiecki in the lineup every night. They're better back there by default by not having 2 of those 3 on the roster anymore.

Ignore the Senators at your peril, rest of NHL. They'll be extremely good this year.

I like the Hoff don't get me wrong, I just believe Pageau gets you farther.

You'd win more games with 12 Pageau's playing forward then 12 Mike Hoffman's is my point.

Huh?

Why would anyone want 12 Pageau's?
Watched the Sens on center ice a lot. Hoffman has a serious shot release, if this was wide open 80's hockey he'd be among the leagues leaders.
I like Pageau as well, he filled in very well when Turris went down.
2 completely different players.
