1. Nobody should take it personally. It's pretty freaking tough to keep a running inventory - in your head - of all the people who post in these threads.

2. It's mostly Junior's fault, anyway.

Imagine that, you can't remember something.

Barrie is not a 6 mill a yr player and doesn't deserve to get that.

I feel sorry for Colorado if the arbitrator rules in his favor

Let the Oilers take him, as long as it isn't the Sabres

Its an interesting case.

If he's asking for $6M in the arbitration that's the absolute max he thinks he can argue for. I would imagine the arbitrator will come in closer to $5M - but the hard question is what kept them from getting to the arbitrator to begin with.

It's gotta be a question of term more than one of money - cause everybody has a pretty good idea where the money will wind up.

My guess is they don't want to commit because they don't know/think he can be a #1 on a contending team. But unless you can package him with picks/prospects for someone who is you're better off locking him up long term.

I vote we give a max ELC to Irish. He's the big FA it seems. Need to scoop him up before he's entranced by Gerbe's glowstick routine. ..

There's the rub.

Barrie wants a high number for term.
Avs are not willing to go high number for term, and in exchange for terms want a more modest number.

So the arbitrator has to hear the hard words, and now the relationship is strained.

And it can only be a 1 or 2 year deal I believe
So even if Barrie gets to 6mil,
He's still not gonna be "happy"

I have t watched closely enough to say he's a 6mil defenseman or not,
But I'd like him on the Sabres
Could be that PP defenseman Murray said he's looking for

Yep, looks like Barrie has all the leverage here too. I think a 1 or 2 year deal takes him straight to UFA.

Id be pretty happy. He's either going to get the Avs to cave or he'll take a 6 mil dollar payday and get an even bigger one in free agency. For all his faults about being soft and what not, I think he's worth 6 mil.

If Lehner struggles, or keeps getting hurt, this season...
I'd send Detroit a mid round pick for Howard
He's under contact for this season & next for around a 5mil cap hit

Our situation in net still makes me nervous

He's 24, so I believe it would have to be a 2year award for him to get to UFA status...
I think only the team can request a 2 year award instead of just a one year
Not positive though
But if that's true,
Tha AVs would most likely just select a 1 year award

Regardless,
Seems like Barrie wants $$$ AND term
This could be another O'Reilly situation where he just decides he wants out

I'm not sure. There was a lot of back and forth. I think we need non-binding arbitration on this.

Edit: Basically I'm too lazy to back read.
