You didn't have to take offense to it is all I was saying... I was simply offering a different opinion... and I think it's shortsighted to draft based on BPA.
Let's not forget these are made up rankings based on what scouts (who rank all of these guys DIFFERENTLY by the way...) think. It's not set in stone that Barzal or Connor will be better than Senyshyn or Debrusk. The two B's prospect may go on to play 10 NHL seasons, and Barzal and Connor might be out of the league in a year. There are plenty of guys that get drafted in the first round who never make it to the NHL.
To me, you draft to fit your organization. You don't just rely on a ranking system of scouts who say, this guy is #6, this guy is #13, that guy is #25. Maybe #25 ends up being the better player out of all of them.
I think your logic works in regards to the #1 overall pick... You're not going to draft Charlie McAvoy with the #1 overall pick with Auston Matthews is on the board. But once you start getting down the list, it's a total crapshoot in regards to who makes the NHL. Draft based on what you need... not just a number some scouts make up. - mixturebill
I really didn't care man. We disagree on a couple things. Oh well. Somehow I think the bruins will still suck tomorrow regardless

Buddy, it up. You can either poop all over Sweeney and the B's, or these clowns will harass you for having a different opinion. It's hilarious how theyve decided that they have unlocked the secret to team building . It's like listening to Tanner. "I'm right, you're stupid, Nana nana boo boo!" - Shaundre93
I really liked Spooner on the wing last year, but I'm wondering if him centering pasta and Vatrano would work better than Krejci. I think we really need Vesey, or someone else, to replace Hayes in the top 9. All other 8 players can swap lines and make for effective pairings, Hayes doesn't fit. Would maybe even scratch him and slide Griffith in to play with Backes and Belesky.
7 mil for marchand leaves them with about 12 million for pastrnak, spooner, and 6 other roster players. thats gonna be tight - GardinerExpress
Well that's just inaccurate. The players other than Marchand, Pasta and Spooner that aren't under contract next year are Morrow, Liles, Randell and Acciari. 4, not six.
Easily done
4 million to spooner
4 million to pasta
Under a million to each rookie/call-up/ resigning of those depth players.
However unless Morrow takes huge strides, I don't see them resigning him again for a minimal contract and they'll look to move someone for a dman.

Well it was just quick figures to highlight how wrong he was. In a perfect world spoonful of pasta would combine long term deals for under 6 million. But if spooner puts up another 60 points, I don't see him signing much lower than 4 million. I really like the guy and want to see how his playmaking and two way game develops. Holding onto Krejci, Bergeron, Backes, and Spooner for the next half decade solidifies the best Center core in the league. (Even with one of the latter two converting to wing predominantly)

not a huge spooner fan. that's just me though - Fountain-San
If spooner puts up 50+ points again he will be looking for a much bigger payday. I dont like it either but based on what other guys out there are getting, it wont be pretty.

What makes him unlinked though? He's young, quick and talented. Boston drafted, was highly touted. Now he is producing and we don't want him to? I understand wanting to limit his money, but he nicely rounds out the top 9 and can play wing and Center. I think he also has good chemistry with pasta and Vatrano and that could be a dynamite 3rd line

Never said I didnt like the kid. Would be nice for some caution to be exorcised in giving him his big payday. Priority should be given to Marchand. Last thing that I personally would like to see is more cap hell.
I have one good Marchand memory. James Neal's knee connecting right with the back of his head. It was awesome. Very fitting it was Neal too because both players have great offensive skills and both also like to hurt other players.

He's deserving of one. He's our only centre that adds a different element to our other three, and that is speed and creativity. We lack players like that, and it was good to see spooner get a bigger shot this passed year. He was a huge reason why our PP was as good as it was

This was my favourite Marchand/Pens memory. Get the brooms out baby

Wasn't that the same play where a ball less Penguin took a nap on the ice?
Same series I believe where the Bruins completely neutered your team and the big 4 finished with zero points?

Cool story bro. I like the one where Crosby got blasted in the mush with a clapper and had to have new teeth built for his (frank)ing ugly female dog face.
I think it only works if we don't sign vesey. Then it makes sense for our top nine. If not, save the money and wait till midseason to pick up a Dman from a team needing to get rid of one.

So the notion of vermette coming to Boston?

Too many centers already. Pass. Pass on both. - One_Eyed_Sweede
Can't pass on Vesey. While I know the hype is ridiculous, the risk-reward is far too great to pass. And Vermette can play wing. I don't want Hayes in the top 9. And I don't see Julien playing Griffith up there. Unless they put Nash in on the third line, but I believe he is predominantly a Center as well
