Just got out of a meeting and quickly scrolled through a few pages.

Lots of Cowen talk, but I also saw some love for Ariana Grande and some bumhole saying Slap Shot was lame.

I knew HE would write this:
The Canucks would be wise to acquire the Vancouver, B.C. native.

I don't know what bothers me more....that he overuses this phrase, or that the idiot, in this case the blogger, actually believes his suggestion is wise.

Or the agent informed them and their position is that this surgery doesn't fit within the meaning of the CBA regarding buyouts. I.E. the Leaf position is that the surgery wasn't related to an injury he sustained while playing.

I'm hoping that your guess is right ...they resolve it by giving the Leafs the buyout but allowing him to cash in. It's only money ...

- The Law

Well if surgery isn't related to playing injury he's toast...

I said yesterday, I think this gets resolved by the league allowing the leafs to buyout Cowan and whatever cap hit would normally be hit with and the leafs end up just paying the full salary.

I work with contracts for a living so with the right Adobe SW and a little know-how it's a lot easier than you'd think.

It's amazing how stubborn people can be when a little bot of fact gets in the way of their feelings/arguments.

"If it's not in the contract, it's not part of the deal."

- Deeps27

Have you seen that terminally stupid commercial on TV about auto insurance?

Some d-bag is sitting on a park bench with the Statue of Liberty over his shoulder.

He whines that he totalled his car, and then asks the insurance company why they didn't give him enough money to replace it.

The insurance company informs him that he didn't select replacement coverage.

So now buddy smugly tells us that he really selected the wrong insurance company.

I love our society today.

It's someone else' fault I didn't read the contract I signed.

It's someone else's fault I'm morbidly obese.

It's someone else's fault the Leafs didn't select Laine.

5:00PM March 1 - if he challenged the IR clearance by then, he'll get paid. From the sounds of it through interviews, he was disappointed not to get the chance to play...my tune would change too if $3M was on the line (that's 30 years of a $100K salary job for God's sake...HUGE implications for a guy who may never play again). I just don't think the facts are on his side based on what's in the public domain.

exactly, so if they were informed, then Cowen did nothing wrong. do we know if that was the case or not?
- vermie22

When Cowan filed the grievance lou said in an interview that it was the first they've heard of it and that they had no contact with him since he was sent home. If they'd been notified electronically there'd be a record of it.

Of course he'd be toast ...but that's what Cowen's disputing.

And that's exactly what I said you said, no? Leafs get buyout ...Cowen get's paid.

Exactly, which is why I think that's how it plays out. Leafs get their buyout and Cowan gets all of his salary. Seems the most logical case.

And becuase they did try to buyout in the buyout window there is no worries about the window closed.
