Is that how many goals he scored this year?
- Mononoke

Just saying it's been done in G's career.

And I expect a bounce back year from Jake. Maybe not top 10 Points but a better year than last.

It'd be nice for him to have a great year in college and then see him in the AHL next season.
- Feanor

It doesn't thrill me he's going to Western Michigan. Their program looks to be a mess right now in terms of player talent. If he went to a better program, I'd have no issue with him staying a couple years. But to go to a meh program and then be a 1 and done....I'd so much rather he'd go to Brandon and play on Patrick's wing for a huge year and then go to the AHL.

He specifically chose Andy Murray as a coach who can get him to the pro level so let's hope so. Sounded both confident and humble like someone who get's it. Farm boy work ethic with a dream.

Thanks Bill. The only fans in the league that like the Habs are in Montreal. So, no worries about what a Hab fan, or player says about a Flyer, because he just doesn't get it. I respect some of the players that the Habs have had, however do I not have to like them.
They demand that the team has a French speaking coach, like little speedy players, and gripe with the best of them. So, again, no worries. Oh, and did I mention that they don't even like the rest of Canada...lol?
Let's talk about the new name for the Vegas team. Any suggestions? The Rats? The Tumbleweeds? I wonder how long that team will last? Maybe longer than the Islanders in their new rink? Ok, enough for one day. I still say we write in Bill for Prez. Then, no political talk would be negative...lol. Moving on......

All of this.

I read "The Game" many years ago and liked it.

But Dryden has always been a smug bumhole, so this sort of article doesn't surprise me. Anytime I encounter an article or show that features Dryden's takes on anything, i just roll my eyes.

Did Dryden posit on how the 1976 Flyers beat the Russians and how the Canadians could only tie them?

I'm no doctor, but I would suggest a more likely explanation is Asperger's Syndrome.

His reputation - as a politician and even before that - is of someone who wants to gather as much information on a subject as possible - from all viewpoints. So "smug know-it-all" is an awkward label for Dryden.

I know people who have dealt with him. It's not as much as smugness as an inability to have a back and forth with people.

Put simply: he has zero interpersonal skills.

You add that to his other traits (stolen from a website):
• limited or inappropriate social interactions
• "robotic" or repetitive speech
• challenges with nonverbal communication (gestures, facial expression, etc.) coupled with average to above average verbal skills
• tendency to discuss self rather than others
• inability to understand social/emotional issues or nonliteral phrases
• lack of eye contact or reciprocal conversation
• obsession with specific, often unusual, topics
• one-sided conversations
• awkward movements and/or mannerisms

Does that not sound a little like Ken Dryden?

I mean, I think it's a legitimate concern for a program that has gone 14-18-5 ; 8-25-3 in their last couple years. In Murray's 5 years, they've developed no NHL talent, and the program as a whole can only boast DeKeyser in like the last 20 years as their only real NHL product.

I love Allison's attitude and I like his game too, but when he talks about going to college to work on "playing the right way" and "getting in shot lanes," I roll my eyes. That's not my idea of development.

Wait.

So Acute Bumhole Smugliosis isn't actually a medical condition?

This is why I hate the internet.

See I have a higher expectation than this. Crosby, Ovechkin, Stamkos, Tavares, Kane, Seguin and Benn. Giroux in my opinion has reached these standards but could either bounce back or decline further. I don't want just a Cup contender. I want a Hart contender, Norris contender, Selke contender and a Vezina contender every year.

Let's write a paper for the New England Journal of Medicine.

You are the doctor, so you need to do all the sciency work.

I'll be your helper. I'll go into the Vancouver Canucks thread and quickly identify scores of guys with Acute Bumhole Smugliosis that you can use as case studies.
