Thats not accurate......the lease was expiring, and regardless of attendance, Wang couldnt get his mini city built. Hence they left. Ask yourself this.......why didnt Wang try and get something built in Bellmont or Queens? It wasnt about the team or the attendance, it was an avenue to build on the real estate. - kindlyrick
Rick, if they were selling out, its easy to justify renewing a lease or conforming more just a Arena Refurb.
Attendance was hideous regardless. Fans simply wouldn't pay up. Only season it jump is when they were playing last season there.
I have to say, I enjoyed being season ticket holder at Nassau more than I did at Brooklyn. Citi Field is the only viable solution. |

Dude, if they moved back there, yeah, that would be shocking, to say the least.

Ishmael was the weirdest auto correct I've ever seen. I just tried to do it again on my phone but it wouldn't do it. I have no idea how that happened? |

Is it because of the venue, the atmosphere, parking, ability to tailgate, commute? I'm just asking because I have no idea and would be lucky to go to a game this year. I keep putting it on my list of places to go, but something always comes up to change that. Bear in mind I live in Arizona, so hopping on the L.I.E. and heading to BC isn't really an option for me. I'm just trying to get an overall sense of the good & bad of Barclays. |

Barclays is fine. In fact its a very good fan experience. The problem is I like to sit in the better seats. Barclays runs tickets sales not the Islanders. they basically were undercutting my season ticket holder price every game.
So my $165 tickets could be bought from $90-$125 on most nights. At the coliseum.for $95 you had best seats in house. If I couldn't go to game it was very easy to sell them for face. Made it worthwhile. |

1st of all, why is it a dumb question? People have reasons why they like/don't like something. You may not like something that he does. Like I said, I'm just trying to get an understanding or a feel what people like or don't like about BC. If my wife & I go to NY, we're going to go to game. It'd be good to have some insight from people that go to games there as far where sit/park, etc.
2nd, yes, I was born & raised on LI. Moved out here 30 years ago. I did move back to NY for a few years in the late '80's, early '90's. But had to move back here. |

How is it then with your rationale that the new ownership is able to build a new arena? Why couldnt Wang do just that.......he was offered the ability to do so and said no. The truth is this has nothing to do with attendance or the isles, it had EVERYTHING to do with developement. I dont praise wang for keeping the isles in new york, as he could have told Kate Murray to shove it long ago and built something either in queens or Bellmont. |

That pretty much sucks. It usually works the other way around. You pay more for single game than seasons. I like sitting lower as well (the wife wants the glass, but that ain't happening), so I'll pay $75-$100 to sit 5-8 rows up from the ice at Coyotes games. |

1. Dont drive there, take the train......it lets you out right there.
2. Make sure you dont buy an obstructed view seat
3. Its a great arena, i dont care what anyone says about the scoreboard, or whatever else..... |

From my understanding, the Lighthouse project was shops, restaurant, hotel and a new Arena, correct? Also, didn't wang make several different pitches to the county whereby he reduced the size and developed area and all got rejected? Asking because I didn't follow it on a daily basis and didn't get as much info as you guys. |

I'll never buy obstructed view again. I did that a long time ago when the Coyotes first moved here. At that time I kind of had to because I was bringing my 4 kids and 2 sisters. The kids just thought it was cool going to an NHL game. As they got older, the tastes changed and they wanted to sit in better seats, especially when the Coyotes moved to their current building. Then they were able to stand at the tunnel and have Islander players high five them before we went to our seats. |
