Vegas can not acquire players before their expansion draft, correct?

I would think that is their "official" date of opening as a franchise.

There's going to be a window after the regular season before the expansion draft where they're going to be able to make trades. This is to get out in front of the "handshake deals" of previous expansion drafts.

interesting, have no idea how the NHL is going to monitor that, feels like if they are allowing Vegas to talk to teams before the expansion draft, there is more of a chance of tampering of who you are going to pick, if you dont we wil trade you this guy etc etc.

I also said that in my first post. It's the how the NHL will regulate it that's interesting. I'm guessing just the fact that the trades have to go through the NHL will be enough to deter any shenanigans.

Maybe this is why the analytics stuff was created, to try to quantify the unquantifiable. I have so little time to get deep into that stuff but much of it makes sense to why some players who rarely score are really valuable and still get paid millions.

They help destroy silly narratives. Like Toews is better than Crosby, or Erik Karlsson isn't that great.
