"@AdamVingan: The Predators have re-signed forward Calle Jarnkrok to a six-year, $12 million contract. https://t.co/08JFBsiOgs"

Wtf who signs a deal like that?

- Scooby_Doo

Burrows ( + 2 years )

Calle must not be that confident in himself. Just wanted security. Is weird tho isn't it?

Tim Murray isn't going to give up a skilled, tough, fast, big power forward like Evander Kane for anything less than a full payment IMO. Love to have him at a discount but I don't think you're gonna get one.
- LeftCoaster

I could see slightly lesser than full, like maybe the prospects are B or C level, but I agree. Murray has him under contract and the kid can play, so I keep him if no one helps recoup the cost of what they paid to acquire him

Contracts in the NHL are Franked.

I mean the cap hit is fine, but why be attached to a player that long term when he hasn't done anything to warrant that contract.

Over in the Buffalo thread they wanted Juolevi and a 2nd

Still not as bad as what they gave up to get him

Roslovic, lemieux, Armia, Stafford for Kane.

It was actually…

Evander Kane, defenceman Zach Bogosian and prospect goalie Jason Kasdorf to the Buffalo Sabres for winger Drew Stafford, defenceman Tyler Myers, prospects Joel Armia, Brendan Lemieux and a first-round draft pick that became Miami (Ohio) centre Jack Roslovic

Linden said they need to play with a lot more structure defensively when they don't have the puck, which is what I've been saying for months.

And kaaptan has as well I believe?

- LeftCoaster

I hope linden ALSO watched those awful breakout attempts and realized it should be our #1 priority.
0 structure on D....but I think Jarvis may have been brought in to help with that. If that improves we will know why

I think it all depends - who is to say that Kane will get his act together? How long do you think Murray is going to remain patient? at some point Kane is going to outstay his welcome (again, unless he really gets his act together - which is easier said than done). Imagine if he gets involved with some further shenanigans in the next little while - do you think he'll have ANY value left? even right now I think he could be had for much less than Buffalo would ultimately like to receive. The kid's value is only as good as is perceived by the market and right now the market is very low on this kid. If there are further problems Buffalo will want to get rid of him at any cost

I think the O zone play was expected or should have been with the amount of injuries and youth inserted on the back end ...you could say they needed a better system but maybe they just need time to develop ...there are a couple who are exempt from this of course but still

Not having a negative influence on their young roster, but you could say the same here as well. If we get him he will be on a very short leash. One has to think his agent is involved.

I agree - where is the agent in all of this? you would think he's had a sit-down with Kane and gave him the riot act. And where are his family? it seems the kid is on an island when he needs the most support and guidance

that was a big trade, Buffalo gave up a lot.

I look at it as, Kane for Myers

and

Bogosian +Kasdorff for Stafford, Armia, Brendan Lemieux, 1st round pick/Roslovic.

I think the Jets did pretty well, especially with Kane becoming a problem in Winnipeg, there was pressure to move him.

I think he has an attitude/ego/maturity issue, but really overblown. This is Evander Kane, not Patrick Kane he of several serious legal incidents.

Here is his list of issues in Winnipeg: http://www.sportsnet.ca/h...-indiscretions-with-jets/

Basically, people didnt like him trying to get paid for tweets, showing off his money stacks on twitter, one alleged incident in Vancouver, and suspicion around his injuries. Add in his current misdemeanor arrest and he pales in comparison to other "troubled" athletes, with most of these issues maturity based or generated from what appear to be easily offended individuals. If he can spend as much time as he does in Vegas, New York and LA without incident, I am starting to think its a small market thing (ie Winnipeg/Buffalo)

EDIT: ...Which Noel is quoted in the link as mentioning regarding the move from Atlanta to Winnipeg

I don't see the Canucks moving anymore assets, IMO the team is set as far as numbers go. They don't have the young assets to pull off another move without hurting the future of the club.

These proposals for Kane... man. Remember when people lost their minds saying the team gave up too soon when the Canucks traded away young power forward with skill and potential and a 5th round pick for Prust? Kassian's career highs of 14 goals and 29 points and was actually in Stage 1 of the substance abuse program. Now why would Buffalo give up a young former 30 goal scorer, who's goals per game rate averages nearly 25 over a season AND a 2nd round pick, for 2 fringe NHL depth defenseman?

Vantel I agree with you from earlier, the kid's issues are overstated. He has had a couple altercations and has some growing up to do but not the poison that some are indicating, it wont drop the price to "free"

I suggested such (two lower tier players) as a good negotiation should start low. You can easily change it up to something better (Pizza and columbus 2nd, maybe Gaunce, maybe Suban. Whatever a roster player a pick and a prospect works out to). Why start high (unless you are Marwood)........besides.....yesterday was Tuesday, cut a brother some slack dude

True, I totally forgot what day it was.

And I didnt mean to single yours out specifically. There were just so many scrub pieces being tossed together as packages for a really good player. If we are talking negotiating stances, someone above pointed out the Sabres thread is countering with Juolevi and a 2nd for Kane...

You're not high at all with those suggestions, they're not accepting those LOW END players for Kane. They gave up a Calder Trophy 6'8" dman to get him. It starts with Horvat or Virtanen or Hutton or Tanev….you guys are dreaming if you think Kane will be had for a handful of our garbage.

I'm not saying I wouldn't love to get him for that, I would, but after trying to read the situation for a bit now I don't see us getting him for anything less than a quality young player…..for now anyways.

I don't know about "fleeced" as there where two main guys from each side. Kane & Bogosian for Myers & Stafford….the rest are just maybe prospects.

The Jets won that trade for now but if Kane turns his life around and becomes a 30 goal power forward, it's a lot closer IMO. Big if though!

It's all good. There have been way more..........questionable trades suggested, just adding my two cents.

I think the people in the Buffalo thread are voting "green" in Nov, or hanging out with Marwood........only way I let Buffalo get Juolevi goes to the Sabre's is if Echial is comming back this way........(now I sound high)

I a million % agree......I don't think we'll trade for him at all. (imo a tactical mistake, just throwing stuff out there). I think we have better odds of signing him if he is released from his contract if he stumbles again. I don't think he's too far gone, but he's gone far enough, I personally would gamble any pieces we have collected and covet.
