I think it was only a thought Vrbata was with the Sedins year 2.
Eriksson is a better all around player & better proven.

Eriksson without Hank is better than Vrbata without Hank.

plus they already played together recently too. Thats a great indication. Less risk

This is what didn't make sense, until the seasons is over, Buffalo could argue that he could still come back and get a ton of goals. Then Sbisa's contract is over. We should try to make them take Sbisa now.
- Retinalz

Think of the voynov situation... Mike Richards, Jarrett Stoll, bertuzzi, Dale Hunter, Mcsorley, or any one else indefinitely suspended...

I am thinking we r 1-2 good drafts away from a position of strength.
I don't see a blockbuster deal in the cards anytime soon.
The TDL prolly not a big date for us this year.
Offseason almost anything could happen with LV drafting.
Cap space could come in very handy.

I've been saying this for a while. 1 more year and 1 more draft and it'll start to show a better viewpoint of the direction. It's there for sure but it'll make more sense once we see what we have.

To me position doesn't matter....wanna see the kids, wanna see growth, wanna see them be competitive, wanna see them better coached, wanna see them more defensively responsible.

We picked up a few solid players this summer. There is more to look forward to than just Juolevi. I would not be surprised to see 2-3 pl layers that could make the NHL

Linden just said he expects Miller to start the majority of games this year, but it will be close to equal
- NorthNuck

That is likely the plan for the first 2/3 of the season. Trying to build him into an asset they can get something... anything... for at the deadline.
They got raked over the coals for sitting on their hands last year, and can't afford to repeat that gong show.

I'm all over the place on this.

Vrbata was told he'd play with the Sedins and didn't last a whole season. and yes, Eriksson is not Vrbata. but what are these guys promised?

WD decides the lnes. is it just him or is it part of the management group or is it a different dynamic where WD takes the input and decides for himself? and then when it comes to the Sedins, how much input do they have? maybe a little more than players should?

Maybe Eriksson will start and end most games with the Sedins but might get shuffled around to mix it up or because of whatever in game situation- after a pk/pp or whatever.

Eriksson signed for 6 seasons is going to see a few different line mates.

- hillbillydeluxe

Whoever thinks Eriksson will ONLY play with the Sedins is getting it wrong. Sure maybe the majority of situations will be played with them but they can't play on the PP and 5on5 all the time. Of course the lines will be juggled. Wasn't everyone complaining last year that WD didn't do enough of that?

The decision is WD's during game time and if he thinks that line is gonna carry the team he is mistaken. Eriksson is a very versatile player and can play up and down the lineup while making his teammates better. He has an excellent defensive game which is probably what makes his linemates better.

I'd personally like to see a Baertschi-Horvat-Eriksson at some point. WD has to be feeling the pressure. The guy has succeeded at every other level and I have confidence he will find ways to win.

The other thing some keep forgetting is the fact we don't know what we have in certain players. Take JV for example. He plays physical and is decent defensively but he hasn't found a scoring touch in the NHL yet. So he needs to be put in more scoring situations than continually played with 3rd and 4th liners. That's WD's job. If that fails to happen and they ride the Sedins and Eriksson all season we not only will be competing for another lottery spot but hurting the development of these young players that need chances to prove what they can become.

I think it is Hansens spot . It will start with LE but then they will spread the scoring

How about if people are intent on getting Kane, use Miller?

Yeah we'd have to retain some salary, but I bet he might be ok with a waive to go there. Yes I get his other half is an actress, but NY is a pretty good place. With his contract expiring at the end of the year, and him not getting any younger, he might give them a discount for him to play and retire a Sabre......

Just a thought....

I beg to differ......full season in the AHL, bring up Demko just before the end of regular season.

Or we ride Markstrom....Alot of people have us pegged to be a crappy team so if we suck, no big woop.....if not though

I'm not trading any of our protected or top prospects for Kane. If Buffalo wants to dump him, then we'd take him on the cheap

sbisa gaunce 3rd/2nd

If that's not enough (which it isn't) then we walk. Baer showed promise. Hansen I'd rather have str8 up. Cheaper and scores almost the same goals. Kane has dipped considerably since his 1 30 goal year. Injuries also a factor. No bandaids please.

I think I pretty much said the same thing last night....

I'm with you......I suggested Beiga and Padan for Kane and a second (yesterday)
I suggested Miller because Sabre's nostalgia. Pretty sure they will retire his jersey when he hangs them up.

Kane's value will be whatever the market will bear. If you are a team outside of the Canucks, would you be willing to take Kane on? The only reason why the Canucks are considering it is because Vancouver is his home town, and that playing at home will help him mature. From that lense, and cap space availability - the list of probable trade partners is most likely quite low. I don't even think the Leafs would go anywhere near Kane given all the youth they have.

Buffalo is a young team on the go - do they really want Kane to be a distraction from that? If there is a trade, I can't see the Canucks giving up anything more than Sbisa and a conditional draft pick(s). Perhaps a second rounder if he plays in 75% games in next 2 years, and a first rounder if the Canucks re-sign him. If Kane plays well enough for the Canucks to re-sign him, its a win-win for both Buffalo and the Canucks.

I think they will cycle a few guys with the Sedins and see where it goes. Rodin, Hansen, Eriksson and JV.

I think few forget Eriksson has ties to WD from his days with Dallas too. I'm sure there was more than just the Sedins for a reason to sign here.

This is pretty much was I was thinking as far as what I'd be OK with them trading. I added in Subban though but only because I am not sure where JB stands with him.

When we slump (and we will) I could see a few 'experiments' with Eriksson/Bo or Eriksson/Sutter but really, I think people better wrap their heads around Eriksson being on the Sedin line for at least his first full season here. Injuries will be key of course to line shuffling. I would literally be shocked to see Hansen start the year with the Sedins then may have to join the anti-WD bandwagon with Dragon if that happens lol…Hansen ain't no first liner.
