Well here is hoping Ferland has a bounce back season.

I agree with OG. Rest in peace JJ. I was even going to try how to pronounce his name but now he is dead to me.

Just ship him out now and re-sign Russell.

Doubtful, wouldn't be surprised to see them deal a forward and Calvin de Haan to make sure they don't lose anyone for free.

Boychuk, Leddy and Hamonic...

Still to early to really guess but I wouldn't be surprised is Frolik and Brouwer aren't protected. Both are useful players on overpaid UFA contracts. I really doubt Vegas wouldn't take a defenceman from the Flames unless the Flames left someone crazy unprotected.

Brouwer maybe, Frolik's useful though and his contract isn't all that bad. We could easily trade him for something of value.

But you're right, too early to guess and a fukc load of shiit can happen between now and the draft that could cause us to change our plans.

It's entirely possible that the reason Brouwer got the term and $ he did was because of the distinct chance of him being left unprotected and claimed by Vegas. Exposing him may be part of the plan. At the very least, both sides of that negotiation had to be well aware of this potential scenario.

Interesting. I kinda figured Brouwer was a reply to Edmonton now icing Lucic, Maroon, and Kassian.

I was kind of hoping the Flames would sign Matt Martin as well!

I'm not sure what the other options would be yet, but if JJ, or Wotherspoon for that matter, show significant improvement, as young up and coming Dmen, why wouldnt they? They have to take someone from us and I can't see BT not protecting his 2 UFA signings unless they really poop the bed next season.

That's what I'm saying. I'd be shocked if they didn't take a defenceman from the Flames. I really think Vegas should take the maximum number of dmen allowed and then work on some trades. They could make a playoff team doing that.

Ok. I must have misread what u were trying to say. But your right, with the way the D market has been the last few years, getting tradable assets to help fill your team could work out well for them. I'm just not sure what other D would be available come expansion time.

In a crazy downward spiral can't not slow down and look at the accident steal Mike Tysons tiger kinda way, yes, it might be interesting.

We should file for the rights to produce his reality TV show if it happens.

Assuming that JJ goes to Vegas, and with the contracts coming off after this season, it potentially leaves 4 spots open on the Flames blue line.

Have to hope that 2 of Wotherspoon (assuming he gets resigned), Kylington, Andersson, Morrisson, and Kulak make the steps needed to be able to take a spot after this season.

From there I would like to see them making an attempt to sign Karl Alzner as a UFA. He has strong Calgary ties from junior and in his off seasons. I'd also like to see them with a more veteran (keep in mind he will only be 28) strong shut down type of defenseman. Somebody to say match with Hamilton and take more responsibility to allow Hamilton to take more offensive risks.

Of course cap and what it would take to sign him all comes into it. But I see him being a very good fit on this team.

Not a chance, not in a million years - this guy is consistently proving that he is not mature enough for the NHL, he can't handle his own fame or money and that is not a guy I want in my locker room if I am the Flames (or any NHL team for that matter).

Yea, for $5+ mil a year. It seems that could be too much for penny pinching Melnyk.

Paid Ryan 7+, is paying Dion over 7, Karlsson (real dollars) over 7.

It was a negotiation for sure, but I think he has to be ok with that or the deal isn't signed...
