And thats why your team will always have a bunch of prospects and be mediocre, and you guys can circle jerk on your blog about all the potentially good prospects you have.

He is an NHL'er and wouldn't be bad as a 2nd, 3rd pairing but a 5 mill defenseman. Yeah, not so sure about that.

Smith and Green are their best 2 D men. Dekeyser is ok. Marchenko is a bum. Kronwall is past his prime. Ericsson always sucked. None of the D prospects are exciting. Wings will be a bottom 5 team very soon.

Their offense is pretty stacked though.

I actually hope that Nash does not get traded, the return will be more mediocre players.

I think that this is Nash's last year with the Rangers. Almost certain that he will be playing in Vegas next year. Between Nash and Glass, we will have additional 9.3 million to spend next year. (Not that there is anyone intriguing from the UFA) Perhaps a trade. Shattenkirk can probably get signed.

I'm hearing rumors of a 4 way deal.

to nyr : shattenkirk and tatar

to stl : nyquist and ribeiro

to nsh : nash and lehtera

to det : girardi and jarnkrok

It could be but they have no idea how to use them appropriately

Tatar-Larkin-Mantha
Nyquist-Nielsen-Vanek
Abdelkader-Zetterberg-Sheahan
Athanasiou-Helm-Jurco

would be a very solid lineup but you will never see anything like that.

Not for a pending UFA.
- eichiefs9

I disagree. The deadline is crazy time. We paid 2 2nds and decent prospect for a guy everyone knew has been done the last 3 years. You can look up crazy deals the last few years and I think St. Louis would definitely get a haul.

I know that is why I winked. I think it all depends on the team and their situation. I definitely see your side but I also think if a team has the assets they will pay up.

Those are the worst trades. Holland has given away Jarnkrok and Janmark in trades like this and also lost Nestrasil and Ferraro on waivers for nothing. Holland is in the running with Benning and Sweeney for worst GM.

I just don't see a team paying that much if they know he won't re-sign there. He's already publicly being picky about where he's traded, by basically announcing that he wouldn't re-sign in EDM if traded there.

I could easily see an eastern "contender" like florida willing to give a 1st, high end prospect, and + because they feel getting him puts them over the top.

Florida has cap space though.

I also don't believe they're a contender.

I was really referring to teams that are legitimate threats to win the Cup. CHI, STL, PIT, WSH..none of them are going to acquire him as a rental and pay that much. Not saying that no team will pay that much if they believe they can re-sign him.

Don't see Nash going anywhere unless it brings back a puck moving d man. I still think Ducks would be perfect partner. If he goes to anashvillr it will be a straight salary dump. Young prospects plus picks. They think they are a player like Nash away from being a serious contender. Would be nice to see something happen while buyout window is open. Cap space might allow us to dump Staal!!

Shattenkirk already has the George Costanza bald spot at age 27...can't imagine him playing on the Rangers through his 30s

Yeah, that E Staal one was brutal though. I was shocked how many Ranger fans thought it was a good deal at the time. At least Gorton has made ammends in my mind by his summer so far.

Neither do I but they are the exact kind of team that will think they are. Those are the teams that make the huge deadline splash. The true contenders make small depth moves. I definitely don't see a player of Shattenkirk's caliber getting moved within the conference either.

That wasn't the debate (frank)face. It was any team giving up a decent amount to get Shattenkirk.
