Most likely what St Louis will do I would think. From a Rangers stand point, just wait till he is a UFA, they will also have a better grasp on if Girardi last year was because of injuries or because he has really declined that much. Makes it an easier decision to buy him out or not. - mdw7413
Agreed. Hard as a fan who wants to see him there "now" but makes more sense |

When Mcilrath was drafted he was compared to Chris Pronger. So far so good!! - BFR
I thought it was Derian Hatcher. |

For a pending UFA? No wayyyy. Most teams that are Cup contenders or think they're a player, like Shattenkirk, away from being one are at-or-close to the cap. They're not backing up a truck full of valuable assets for a guy that they can't afford to re-sign after the playoffs end. - eichiefs9

Red Wings re-sign Danny DeKeyser. Six years and $30-million.

For a cup they would. If the team has picks and prospects they feel won't make an impact for a couple years, why would a team hold onto a pick or prospect when they think they can win a cup now. All depends on the teams situation. Its not a 1 size fits all answer. |

He better turn the corner. Because he's not worth that now. |

How the hell do you pay a guy that much when his goal total for 3 years doesn't even hit 20? |

Isn't he their top D man? I don't watch enough Red wing games |

I actually hope that Nash does not get traded, the return will be more mediocre players.
I think that this is Nash's last year with the Rangers. Almost certain that he will be playing in Vegas next year. Between Nash and Glass, we will have additional 9.3 million to spend next year. (Not that there is anyone intriguing from the UFA) Perhaps a trade. Shattenkirk can probably get signed. |

Looks as bad as the Girardi contract. |

Technically, yeah. Their D stinks outside of Krownwall. Dekeyser, Green, Ericcson, Smith. |

Wrong - eichiefs9
And thats why your team will always have a bunch of prospects and be mediocre, and you guys can circle jerk on your blog about all the potentially good prospects you have. |

Smith and Green are their best 2 D men. Dekeyser is ok. Marchenko is a bum. Kronwall is past his prime. Ericsson always sucked. None of the D prospects are exciting. Wings will be a bottom 5 team very soon. |

He is an NHL'er and wouldn't be bad as a 2nd, 3rd pairing but a 5 mill defenseman. Yeah, not so sure about that. |
