The rules you quoted only point out that no tampering has taken place. Any manager may scout for their team (yes, even Sabres players). There has been no offer, no meetings with Vesey or his agent. End of discussion.

You can't dictate who is scouted and when. Grow up.

Exactly! Bowman is operating within the rules.

Sour grapes much, Garf? I love how your tone has changed from 2 weeks ago:

"Dan Bylsma loves Vesey's size, speed and skill. Bylsma and Murray see Vesey as a top six forward straight out of the box."

to today's:

"who has yet to skate one second TOI in an NHL game."

I sure when Vesey signs w/TOR, CHI or BOS, Garf calls him "AHL fodder" or "minor league talent."

Sour whining, there was no guarantee a third round pick would get him. What don't you get? Chicago or Boston get him.

I don't get why anyone would be mad at this kid. He is merely following the rules of the CBA.

Nashville understood the risk when they didn't sign him prior to him completing the amount of years they retained his rights.

Tim Murray knew that trading the pick didn't guarantee him signing.

Vessey owes NO team anything at this point as his rights are only held exclusively for about two weeks. This kid left maybe a million dollars on the table by not signing. He gets his pick, whether he's earned it in your mind or not is irrelevant. By the CBA he has, and that's all that matters.

I think most rational fans get this, Garth is very entertaining, because of his over use of hyperbole. C'mon, if you tell your wife every night that her dinner was the best in the world you've ever ever had every night and combine that with terrible puns she might pick up on some insincerity.

But it's hilarious to watch, and even more hilarious to contemplate if he truly feels what he says what type of roller coaster of emotions he must be day in day out.

Yes, it's well within a player's rights to not sign with his drafting team after graduation... but either in doing that, or at least the way in which he did it, Vesey obviously rubbed the Preds the wrong way. Also, regardless of his dealings with the Preds, the Vesey camp made it very clear that he wanted to test free agency. So, with both of these points in mind, in my un-expert opinion, Murray should have had at least some suspicion about Vesey before trading for him (caveat emptor?)... and he shouldn't be surprised that this what might happen.

That being said - if Murray has a problem with what the Blackhawks, Bruins, etc. are doing, then come on man, file a tampering charge on them with the league!

Can't say as I don't agree with you on this. Both teams should have been prepared for this possibility.

Murray knew this was a possibility but felt the risk was worth it.

The only one talking about Murray being miffed here and tampering is Garth.

I'm not of the opinion that what Bowman is doing is wrong, or at least can be proved wrong, he'd be stupid NOT to do this.

I get your opinion, I see it a little differently is all. I just can't get the mindset that he should sign with the Sabres because they gave up a third rounder, kid is sticking to his guns, I support that.

I love Garth Blogs. Puts a smile on my face every morning. It's like a B movie that is so terrible it's good.

As for this Vesey. Maybe he doesn't like Buffalo, maybe he doesn't want to ride shotgun to Eichel, perhaps GMTM's ptich wasn't good enough, or maybe he doesn't like GMTM. There could be a hundred reason why Vesey doesn't want to sign in Buffalo. In the end he could do as he pleases.

I also love how the "upstart Sabres will provide him with a great opportunity to make the playoffs in his rookie NHL season in Buffalo."

How can you even list this as reason, when he told Nashville to take get lost. A team were he would not only be guaranteed a playoff spot, but it would have already eaten one year of ELC. So he gave up a guaranteed playoff spot, to sign for an opportunity at a playoff spot. Obviously a playoff spot is not high on Vesey's demands.

As for Bowman. He doesn't have to show any team any respect. He simply has to do his job to make his team better. If that means going to scout Vesey, then so be it. For all I care, he could go and scout Vesey's golf game, so long as he doesn't contact him before August 15.

Now that the Leafs have Trevor Moore, we don't even need Vesey.

Buffalo can have him.

No need to thank me.

Seriously, Trevor Moore!

It's like Christmas in July!

Embarrassing that it isn't hypier?

I'm not quite sure whether he's a defenceman or forward, but I'm predicting either a Norris or a Selke!

Although Vesey may be a great player, is tis little self proclaimed primadona worth the aggravation? I mean really, he hasn't played one game in the NHL, and he's acting like a veteran that's been around forever. I think it's time to move on.

So what it was a third round pick, and we had three of them. Remember you cant sign everybody and the farm system is stocked with players, not to mention next year we have 2 seconds and a 2 thirds!

We made our pitch, personally I hope its not toronto or boston and he decides to head west! I would love that, and really piss off the Preds!
