Did he add an emoticon after the insult? It's very important to make it look like it's a poke between friends.

I still can't believe he fell as far as he did...I was starting to feel bad for the guy
- Lucas.Neilson

I thought he was a steal for them at that point though.

I swear it reminded me of when Forsberg somehow (frank)ing slipped to the caps.

Unbelievable.

I thought Nylander was drafted pretty much where he was supposed to.

Pujuljarvi was a steal at #4.... and I (frank)ing like Sergachev at #9.

All quality prospects though.

How would we know at this point?

I think its worth the risk they took, but not sure how it can be a steal yet

Me too. I was hoping the Leafs would find a way to move up and grab him. That's why I don't understand how everyone says Arizona got fleeced in that deal. In their mind they picked up another top 10 pick. They said Chychyrun was a guy they were thinking about taking at 7.

Realistically I don't know what they could get for JB but it's a tough decision. It would be a much easier decision if they weren't in this (frank)ing 3 horse race constantly trying to make up one game at a time. I think you're right in that they need him for a run this summer, but if they drop off and don't even make it in, bye bye for nothing....

I feel like the Jays blowing a season where one of there players is doing amazing (Sanchez) is such a Toronto sports franchise thing to do.

- markmark

Not exactly - if they give him a qualifying offer, they get a 1st round pick for Bautista if he signs with another club. (Sandwich Pick)

Jays are in way better shape than last year, hitting throughout the lineup is great, very few teams have the ability to put a Devon Travis batting ninth. (he's a real good hitter) Their starting pitching is also exceptional. Big weakness is bullpen - need to add 2 reliable veterans there - it will be addressed - but we do not have to move key pieces to do so.

Would the Habs have taken Alex if he didn't go at 8?

But yeah poolparty at 4 was just stupid on CLBs behalf.

Sweeney screwed the pooch on drafting McAvoy over him. I wasn't too happy about that.

Well it's just my opinion.

If my team was drafting at that rank, I wouldn't have hoped to grab a guy like him.

Guess that's why I call it a steal.

Doesn't mean he'll become a star for sure, just that it was a great, unexpected opportunity.

I would have been happy with Nylander as well.

I dont get your logic on "Steals"

We have 2+ years of info on Nylander... it looks so far like the leafs got a player at #8 who probably should have went higher, Dall Colle, Virtanen and Fluery ahead of him.. would you prefer them over Nylander now?

STL turned Rundblad into Tarasenko.
OTT turned him into Kyle Turris.
ARZ turned him into Christian Dvorak.
CHI turned him into thin air.

I would love to see an analysis of how guys have done after their stock has dropped precipitously at the draft (I'm sure someone has written an article).

The most glaring one I can remember is Angelo Esposito - it was painful when the camera kept showing him sitting in the stands.

Turns out the scouts were right.

I'm pretty sure for Chychrun, Craig Button ranked him at 17 and then all teams took notice.
