Agreed - Jays would totally screw themselves by attempting to trade a key player that has to agree to a trade. It would be very public and very ugly. Moral would be damaged for certain. They need to shore up the bullpen - that's about all. Jays need to do much less than they did last year. Two reliable veteran relievers would not cost the Jays much. Jays do not need a starter, their starting pitching is near the top of the majors. A player that could be moved where they have depth is Goins. His bat is weak, and Barney is more versatile - plays all infield positions and can even play in the outfield.

Realistically I don't know what they could get for JB but it's a tough decision. It would be a much easier decision if they weren't in this (frank)ing 3 horse race constantly trying to make up one game at a time. I think you're right in that they need him for a run this summer, but if they drop off and don't even make it in, bye bye for nothing....

with Bautista its pretty simple imo.. you keep him, try to win now..Maybe you can re-sign him maybe not... they get a 1st if he goes to another team. also like you mention, he has to accept the deal...its not a simple thing to trade him...esp for what the Jays would want

Upton is ok..not great..but can help overall.. and the Jays could lose both JB and Saunders next season.. it sounds like SDP will pay a lot of uptons salary so not a big risk move really..since they have him for next season as insurance against others leaving

Agree - I like the Upton move, has 20 stolen bases and 16 HR - big upgrade on Carrera. Hits well at the Rogers Center as well. Need to add bullpen arms to improve on Chavez/Shultz/Tepera IMO

I kinda like seeing their streak being as long as it is.
