1 way deal hurts that a little.

But seriously, the reason 29 other teams didn't want him is 29 other teams have a guy just like Holland.

And right now, that’s all he’s probably tradeable for.

I'd like to hear something new on the Jared Cowen situation. Didn't that get 'grieved' weeks ago?
- The Law

I don't think they've had the hearing yet.

How so?
- the_eye

pretty straightforward. If a team needed a guy like him, they could have just picked him up for free. With full knowledge he was going to get under $2M. Not a single team was interested.

You think ending up at $1.3M is somehow going to spark interest from a bunch of teams? Of course not.

It's possible mid-season, if he plays well, a team hits a few injuries, needs someone to fill the spot, and offers up a second or third round pick, but it won't get much better than that.

Same.

I like the idea of a guy who knows his role as a backup.

Nobody would have taken him while going to arbitration.
They all know how those arbitraters rule sometimes.

Mrazek 6'2 183lbs

Enroth 5'10 171lbs
Bernier 5'11 184lbs

Got different numbers that these when I looked it up...oh well. Those still aren't overly large goalies IMO, but yeah he's smaller.

I agree with you but if he was upset about how little he played in LA he won't like it here either. I hope they lay it out to him and he still signs, I think that gives us a solid 1-2 punch in goal.
- justmike

Well even though Andersen is the starter out of the gate I can see Babs going to Enroth if he struggles compared to Sutter always going back to Quick. Quick has done more for his team so he has more credibility than Andersen does.

Didn't he complain that he wasn't getting enough starts in LA? Seems like he doesn't know his role.

2nd or 3rd rounder? I doubt a desperate team pays so high. I would guess at best he gets a 4th rounder or another player of similar calibre.

His days are numbered imo.

A good end result to me would be moving him at the TDL to a playoff team for some overpaid useless veteran on an expiring deal and a pick.

I'm guessing Babcock doesn't want a midgetier midget than the last midget.
Specially with equipment sizes also getting smaller.

25 years old, going on 26, career high 27 points, no special skills to speak of like any out of the ordinary grit, no out of the ordinary PK or other defensive acumen.

This is the kind of depth player you can get for dirt cheap on the open market.

If the Leafs demand a high pick, or good prospect, any team trying to trade for him will just look elsewhere.

He just doesn't carry much value, if any. If he did, he would have gotten picked up, with the knowledge that his salary will 100% certainly not be over $2.1M. That was the absolute ceiling.

Enroth just doesn't seem to be the type of goalie Babcock likes. He's 5'10. Babs likes big bodies in goal.

I just wanted to know why he thought a one way would make a difference, I agree he's not tradable at this point, but at the deadline playoff teams like to havee a little depth.

Well I doin't necessarily think a playoff team cares about one way or two way when looking for depth at the trade deadline. His cap hit would be like $300K for a team picking him up at that poitn.

yeah, at this point, he wouldn't fetch a late pick. But, as I say (and agree), if he played well, maybe upped his output to 35 points, i can see a playoff team picking him up as insurance, for a draft pick.

He's not terrible, as in he's no liability. He's just a dime a dozen type player.

because if a team gets him, but wants to throw him in the minors, they'd still have to pay his full salary rather than his AHL one.

Not a big deal at the deadline though.

Look at all the stiffs we have moved in the last 12 months. Not like its a Clarkson contract or Dion. Send him with a 3rd or 4th rounder for a 6th or 7th conditional.

Similar to the Carter Ashton deal

See that's just silly, who would want to get him and then put him in the minors..

Just saying if you can move Carter Ashton and David Broll to the Tampa Bay Lightning for a conditional seventh-round pick in 2016.

You can move Holland..easily
