Where was Kadri on the list? - Leafsandbolts
Interestingly - Pittsburgh had top center in Crosby and #6 with Malkin, next best team for depth at center was Tampa with Stamkos at #5 and Tyler Johnson at #14
anyways...i'm not getting into a dispute.....my opinion is we won't get speedbagged after the whistle if Polak and Martin are on the ice...sure the team might start something...but it won't be 30 straight seconds of a guy poking our star in the face...
Kadri stepped up against Backes, promptly got his ass handed to him. Good on him though, at least he stepped up. IIRC that was our first fighting major of the year. Halfway through the season.

How well did the Sens do? After all, the do have Toews and Giroux.
How could Phaneuf hit Tavares when Martin is RIGHT there on the bench glowering at him and waiting for his 8 minutes of "protection time?" - AdamFrench
we're talking...on the ice...after the whistle...of course there are going to be guys who run everybody...(frank) we're going to have at least 3 of them this year.

Actually, Turris is #35 (better than I would have expected) and Brassard is #47 so they should be ready for a long cup run, especially with McArthur as their top LW.

If you are using a tough guy to intimidate - its moot to use him against an opposing tough guy. Totally Useless.
John (aka Big Salami) Scott went after Kessel
Brian (6'7" coward - turtles against tough guys) went after Kessel
Leafs stood around and played pocket pool. Need El Kabong to step in but he was a no-show. - winsix
2 other guys jumped in while Philly was axing him!!!

The important thing is not that tough guys stop shenanigans, it's that they can carry out retribution and punishment for its own sake. Retribution tastes good.

I don't know why thats funny?
Just have to hope that polak or Martin are on the ice at that time (which won't happen a lot).

he isnt there to be a bodyguard
but if things start to get dicey in a game its nice to have a guy like that to send over the boards
its not protection... but a guy who can skate and hit will generally make the opposition a little more timid when it comes to running the young guys because they know its gonna come right back at them - Dozzer
This.
Plus, having guys who hit on the forecheck really wears out the D and they start making mistakes which equal turnovers which equals more O-zone time.
