I like Schenn with Couturier. For some reason they seem to play a more physical game when on the same line which I think brings out the best of them when they play a little nasty.
One of the reasons I would love Konecny on this team is I feel that line needs a playmaker type. Add someone like Konecny and I think they would mesh well. - J35Bacher
I agree. But that means that one of Simmonds or Voracek has to switch to LW unless you have Raffl/Laughton on the first line. |

Schenn, Simmonds and Voracek ate legitimate point collectors and you just wanna hand an opportunity to a kid who hasn't earned that spot yet. Simmonds with 32 two goals and Schenn with the best even strength point totals, yes, thrived.
Laughton basically went from a projected their line center to a number one wing in just a couple seasons. Even G had to work from the third line to the first in his career. - roenick97
i wouldnt necessarily calling that thriving, at the same token when simmonds did it two years ago playing with multiple linemates, he thrived then also, so he can really play with anyone. schenn has taken steps and increased his point total every year, and he was not playing with G the entire time, so you could say he thrived away from G.
Laughton was supposed to be penciled in as a two way center but his game as a center doesnt seem to translate. its plain to see he has some offensive skill, a nose for the net, and very good speed. even playing small amounts of minutes he was still able to put up respectable ES numbers, giving him time on G's wing i think will improve these numbers, while balancing out the top and bottom 6. |

I thought the top of discussion before we went to bed was to cater to Scott Laughton. - roenick97
What are you even talking about? We're talking about Schenn, then you started talking about Hakstol. Why are we now bringing Laughton up?
Edit: I admit, I haven't, and am not going to, backread past 8 AM this morning. |

I thought Voracek looked good on the LW.
If the Flyers were able to surprise and sign Veasey that could add an intrigue to the top 6.

Schenn's contract is no different than any other player. If he produces it will be a good deal. If he doesn't, it won't be. - MJL

I wonder if Hexy can get a Josi-like extension done with Ghost over the next calendar year? Or the two year bridge deal? |

Never know.
I love Garth is feeling disrespected that Veasey, who has always said is waiting until FA to decide, keeps adding teams to his short list.
I do think it is probably a low probability but I do think they can offer the same top 6 chances as everyone else. |

I think the deals handed out to Maata/Klingberg are comps for Ghost, assuming he doesn't fall off a cliff next year. |

I think he is in the sense that Read is going to be the fan whipping boy all season if he plays at the same level as the last 2 years making what he is making |

Schenn is the new Carter of this fan base. He will be judged to a different standard than everyone else. I don't think it's fair, and he's pretty much being set up to fail in the fans' eyes, but that's how I see it. - jmatchett383
I don't think there is any question that if he struggles for all or parts of a season, he will become the ire of fans. Some will even have unfair and unreasonable expectations based on the contract. |

Then what did you mean by "the coach" when you said:

yes, your opinion that hextall wanted to sign schenn, and then did, is supported by the facts. except thats not what im arguing. you keep going back to that and im wondering if you even read through the whole point.
ALL im saying is, in my opinion, Hextall feels different about Schenn. NOT that he doesnt want him on the team, NOT that he didnt want to sign him, NOTHING along those lines. my OPINION, is that how i have seen his contract negotiations play out, my OPINION, is hextall thinks about him differently.
thats it. done. - sjk540
No, I'm arguing that I don't agree with your opinion that Hextall feels differently about Schenn, and that your opinion is not supported by any facts. I've repeatedly stated , multiple times, that in my opinion, how the contract played out has zero bearing on how Hextall feels about Schenn. So I'm puzzled why you keep stating that I don't understand your point.
Now it's time for me to move on from this specific discussion. |

In response to your comment. I wasn't actually engaging in a conversation about Hakstol. We were talking about who Schenn would be best suited to play with. |

And yet you did bring him up. And you implied, unless I interpreted it incorrectly, that Hakstol was using him incorrectly if it was true Schenn played better with Couturier than Giroux.
