I was a huge indie movie goer late in high school and though my early years in university. I loved the Sweet Hear After and the Hanging Garden. Sarah Polley and I were are same age. I am haunted by the cover of this song to this day.

I ordered Fully Completely from Columbia House cause I was 13 and I really liked hard rock. That was one of the options the catalogue suggested. It's one of the few CDs I still have from then. That album is (frank)ing classic.

This is a little early as Pride is in another week, but keep it PG and this isn't a problem.

However, what this has to do with the Hip or hockey, I'm at a loss. Please, hockey unless it's really a thing that needs acknowledgement.

Hey carol.

I saw them last night in victoria. Amazing. Gord was emotional at the end and it was really sad but he was unreal. Gave 150 percent out there and crowd was behind him the whole time

So impressed by him. If I had one year to live, would I go to work? This guy loves his job so much, he's doing it to death. What a talent and what a great human being.

I agree, "nonsense is a kind of 'garbage' post". So we're in that together...

Holy crap that does not sound like the Alice in Chains I listened to. I consider myself pretty well informed, but that Simon and Garfunkel poop is not good. At least Layne Staley made Mad Season after this and made amends.

People have said that and I have heard it, but I just disagree. I don't like Jerry Cantrell's voice and I feel like this whole thing is too removed from the harder sound.

I remember seeing the Hip play in NYC at a local bar. The place fit a couple of thousand people maybe and wasn't quite full, but the people there absolutely loved the show.

Probably mostly canucks living abroad.

My brother saw them in Portland at The Rose Ballroom, said the place was packed and about 90% Canadians. I saw there last run at The Commodore Ballroom when they did their 5 night run there.

When the hip's 1st concert in my home town was announced. There was a line up of people camped out to get tickets when they went on sale. Some friends of mine were 3rd in line with their tents. I had hockey so I stopped to say hey. They were passing around some jazz and I par took in a festive note or 2. As this was all happening my coach walked by and said hey Chunk I finally figured out why you burn out in the 3rd period. Its because you actually do burn out in the 3rd period. I was only 17. I got benched for the next 2 games. I did go and see them but the 2nd concert of the hip's for me was better than the 1st. Love the hip. Reminds me of being a teenager. The memories of backroads and pit parties.

Please, share your Hip thoughts, memories—trade rumours. The thread is all yours!

Thank you Carol for this wonderful blog - it was an excellent tribute.

I saw the Hip a few years ago on Canada Day in Ch-town with The Trews opening, it was as Canadian as you can get. I've seen a ton of their concert videos and the one thing that I dig the most is Gords creative/impulsive nature - no song is every the same twice - thats why you meet people that have seen them play like 15-50 times, they're like Pearl Jam that way - all about the live show and how it changes night to night.

In honour of Canadian music - i just wanna throw out some other bands that are excellent and truly Canadian. Hollerado, Joel Plaskett, Arkells, Limblifter, The Fast Romantics, The Mounties and Mother Mother. If any of you cats are interested in checking out some (NEWER) music this is a great starting point.

I just read the Canucks article asking should Canucks trade Chris Tanev?

I am not the biggest Tanev cheerleader, but if you trade him who is your top line RHD? That is a big hole you leave.

I believe Stecher can play in the NHL but not top line minutes, nor do I think Gudbrandson is ready for that role.

He is one of the most reliable defensive Dmen in the league . He may not add a lot to scoring production , but what he lacks in O he keeps puck out in our end.

I'm sure Benning knows not to trade him for anything stupid
