I don't get why some are taking a stance on Holland. A hard one at that... - systemtool
If he had value someone would have thrown the leafs a seventh for him or something |

ok... i should have been clearer
bozak is at his ceiling, he won't get better
holland has the potential to get better... thats not saying he will... but the 25 - 30 window is when players these days play their most productive hockey (with the exception of superstars which neither bozak or holland are)
i still feel more comfortable with bozak in the lineup... need experience down the middle... and the idea of kadri holland and matthews as 1-2-3 seems a little light in that department - Dozzer
Neither player is relevant moving forward. Holland is about the same as the very disposable Joe Colbourne - who Calgary touted as a great acquisition until they realized that he was not good enough to be a center on a team that had playoff aspirations. Bozak will be a serviceable 2nd or 3rd line center until the deadline - when the leafs will unload him for one or two picks. |

Another typically shortsighted decision made by our management. I mean they've already let Finn, Verhaegue, Panik, Carrick, Ashton, Aulie and Colbourne leave.
When will the madness end? |

I think there is some humour in Jared Cowen fighting getting bought out. If he's bought out, he gets 2/3 of his salary (over two years). The fact that he fights that says that he would rather get full salary, and rot in the minors, rather than get 2/3 salary, and the opportunity to sign somewhere else and potentially prove he can work his way back into the NHL.
It's basically giving up.

He hasn't played in the AHL for 2 years, so it might be hard to convince the arbitrator a 2-way contract is warranted.
I think this gets settled now.
1-way, $1.4 million. |
