It's a tough call - keeping him gives them the better chance to win this year. Trading him increases their chances of being good a few years from now.
Remember though, if he does walk as a FA, the Jays receive a 1st Rd draft pick as compensation, so it's not losing him for nothing.
Also, because of the 10 and 5 rule, if he doesn't want to be traded at the deadline, the Jays can't trade him. The team trading for him would be a rebuilding team, so it's likely he'd want to stay with the Jays and play in the playoffs than play out the last two months of his contract losing with the Padres.

You dont trade Bautista..its not even a question. Doesnt matter how they played without him.. he is a large upgrade on whoever is currently replacing him... they are in a playoff race with a very good team, you dont trade him in that situation.

Why can't we have a good bullpen for once. I feel like its been a glaring issue for years now and nothing is being done about it. If we don't fix this Bautista and Edwins talent is just being wasted. Jays haven't done this before have they *cough Halladay*. |
