what a terrible article. Yes Ottawa has the same problems as other cities such as money for infrastructure, or the homeless population. But so what? I brought my friends from small town Bentley AB to visit and they didn't want to leave. The history, the food, the culture.. They were blown away. Only contending teams are going to want to acquire a pending free agent. Contending teams don't typically trade anything off their MLB roster when acquiring players at the trade deadline.

It's a tough call - keeping him gives them the better chance to win this year. Trading him increases their chances of being good a few years from now.

Remember though, if he does walk as a FA, the Jays receive a 1st Rd draft pick as compensation, so it's not losing him for nothing.

Also, because of the 10 and 5 rule, if he doesn't want to be traded at the deadline, the Jays can't trade him. The team trading for him would be a rebuilding team, so it's likely he'd want to stay with the Jays and play in the playoffs than play out the last two months of his contract losing with the Padres.

I love Ottawa, visit 2 or 3 times a year.
mostly cause Molsons gets me Leaf tickets, Freaken taxi fare is ridiculous.
