Evander Kane is a flawed human just like all of us. The only difference is he plays professional sports so people get all butthurt when he does something wrong. Let's look at the facts here though shall we?

1) He has the sexual assault thing that resulted from a drunk girl hooking up with him. She never even claimed she was raped, but the hospital was mandated to report because she couldn't remember exactly what happened. This would never make the news if it happened to any of us. The worst parts about that incident are that he cheated on his gf and slept with a drunk girl. Both of those things are of dubious character, but they aren't indicative of some menace to society.

2) The NBA All-Star game situation was next. He takes a short flight to Toronto and oversleeps the next day and misses practice. Is it irresponsible? Yes. My question is what early 20s male in here has never drank the night before a workday and overslept or gone to work hungover? My guess is many of us have. Again, it's only news because he's a pro sports player. I could call into work tomorrow for the same thing and probably wouldn't even receive a slap on the wrist.

3) The most recent incident is the real first 'bad apple' behavior in my opinion. He has too much to drink at a bar that is paying him to appear and depending on which version of the story you believe, says or does some rotten things. I believe that if the BPD had video of him choking a woman and trying to shove her in his car that they would have filed more than non-criminal harassment charges. I think he probably got drunk and mouthed off to some people and this was the result. I obviously wasn't there, and if for some reason there was video of him choking a woman that surfaced I would think much differently, but as things stand I believe this was not that big of a deal. The charges levied against him would support that opinion.

Meanwhile, in the shadow of all the judgements being cast against him, people forgot about things that are proven facts, such as the FACT that he took dozens of kids from the local Boys and Girls Club to dinner and Dave and Buster's and right before Christmas he took a group of 50 to dinner at Chef's and bussed them all to Target and gave them $200 give cards. What a horrible person, right? Would I like for him to stay out of the news? Absolutely. He could stand to grow up some and be self-aware enough to realize he is a target and surround himself with people and situations that aren't going to have the potential to harm him and his character. However, the depiction of the guy as some immoral rogue citizen off the ice is largely overblown to me.

I don't dispute any of this. I don't think he is a terrible human being, nor did I ever say he was. This is solely about making the team better. And keeping a player that scores only 20 goals, can't seem to last a full season, with a $6 million cap hit, all while bwing seemingly incapable of creating a distraction for all the wrong reasons, doesn't do that, no matter how many charitable endeavors he performs. I don’t look to players for their charitable efforts. That's not to say they are bad things, bit there are plenty of non celebrities making more of an impact in that regard with fewer resources that never get noticed. It's solely about winning hockey games, and right now, all things considered, this team is a better one with Evander Kane off of it.

You just made my point for me. The things Kane did are not even news worthy if he isn't an athlete, yet people make it seem like this guy is Aaron Hernandez.

Does this not sound like a good set up for the base of a civil suit? The charges are minimal, but could be worth something to a person looking to make some money off the hockey hero.

I'll tell you what tho, Joe the plumber who exhibits the same behaviour as Kane will certainly be held accountable by the Law, his peers his employers, etc and so should ,and I suspect will , Kane.

Personally, I think he's a goof but if you guys like him I have no problem with him remaining a Sabre forever.

Joe the plumber wouldn't have been charged because no one would have even known who he was. If Kane choked a woman he deserves everything he gets, but it seems based on the actual charges the police have evidence to support that likely didn't happen.

So if he isn't being charged with choking her, what's the problem? You guys can defend him all you want, but there's more than enough smoke around this guy that I can't believe it's continental wide media conspiracy.
