I think if you maintain a 12-14% shooting throughout your career, thats at an elite level pace

I don't think they'll take away any special teams time. 4 on 4 you can go entire games without seeing especially since OT is 3 on 3 now. 3 on 3 OT they might take a shift away every 5 or 6 games. It's inconsequential. It's not like he's going to go from 20 minutes to 14 minutes.

Probably, I'm not making that argument though. I was just agreeing on what an elite sh% was.

I just looked it up his career before last year was 9.0%. Last year he shot 7.4%. So even if he gets back to his career average of 9.0% before last year it wouldn't be enough. You're not going to increase your sh% by 5.0% if you only shot 1.6% below it last year. It's possible and players do do it for a season, but they always come crashing back to Earth.
