He basically turned himself in for a prior offense (Misdemeanor trespass). This is not a new issue, This is just him trying to resolve the past issue.

Correct. It is somewhat unfortunate, but "taking the good with the bad" is a part of life. The problem is when the good doesn't outweigh the bad by that much, it's better to just get rid of the headache altogether.

Sounds pretty horrific what he did (if true) but then the manager says that nothing happened.

It gets into some pretty scary territory if you start suspending guys based on allegations .
