He's awesome! For non-Rangers fans we have someone we can count on who will continually bash your team. He's actually a pleasure to read. |

Yeah plus Johnson is seen as a player that is not necessarily a core player. It would be preferred to keep Namestnikov to replace him but in the completely hypothetical trade I came up with he would be added as another piece to acquire more cost controlled players. Add in the likelihood of retained salary or a buyout on Filppula and things get even trickier. They have a couple of upcoming forward prospects in Point and Stephens that I think will be very solid players. - Feds91Stammer
That's the most assinine comment I've read in a while. Johnson is a freaking stud and is probably the best offensive player on the Lightning |

Stamkos and Kucherov are both presently better than Johnson I think. Drouin will be soon too. |

You have no idea how tired I am of arguing Nash's merits when focus of many, not necessarily here, is just on inconsistent scoring. - airjan23
I hear you, Jan. It gets tiresome when the "educated" come out of the woodwork to explain to us that one of the most complete players of the last decade is terrible because he doesn't score 42 every year.
I am quite glad he is still here. Not only do we need his (hopefully rebounding) production to start the year, but I look forward to the assets he should fetch at the trade deadline.
On another note, I don't understand all the people calling for a long term deal for Hayes. For me, the guy has done very little to warrant it. Give him a deal like Miller's last year and let him prove he is worth a big contract. Potential is great, but you shouldn't get paid for it while sliding back from what you've shown you're capable of. |

I think Rick Nash is deserving of criticism for last season
7.8 million cap hit and the guy scored 5 goals after January 2nd.
I do believe he will bounce back and bounce back strong this year |

the problem with this is that he does SOOO much more than just score goals. he is our BEST skater.. forwards or defense, he is our best skater. IMO he is the only player on our team other than hank who is capable of taking over any game. he doesn't do it very often, but he still has the ability.
Im probably a bit biased though as he is one of my favorite players and was even before the rangers got him... |

Nash scored 42 goals in 2014-15 and we won President's trophy, it certainly wasn't a coincidence |

Yeah but you can find players that do all that stuff and don't score 40 goals that don't make over $7M. You pay Rick Nash to score a lot of goals, that's why you acquired him. If he's not scoring, he's not worth his contract.
The fact that he's so good at the other stuff is a fantastic added bonus, don't get me wrong...but there are guys out there that can kill penalties and skate that make a fraction of what he does.
For the record, I'm not saying Nash is "done" or anything like that. Just that the criticisms are fair because he's being paid to score, not kill penalties. |
