Carle, Colaiacovo, Gagner, Grossmann, Richards, Luke Schenn, Seidenberg, Umberger, Versteeg ... all former Flyers who played in 15-16 but are without NHL contracts right now. - Feanor
I'm kind of amazed Luke hasn't been signed yet. |

I think he will be a late signing, maybe even during a training camp once teams see what their needs are.
Luke Schenn would be a great pickup for a team who needs some inexpensive sandpaper.

I liked Steve Downie in his second stint with the Flyers. I honestly think we would have stood a better chance against the Rangers with a healthy down on that Coots, Read and Downie line. - roenick97
Downie came in and for 11 or so games (after he got himself concussed in his first game), that line caught fire and sparked their turnaround. After that, he was nothing but a boat anchor dragging that line down, which is why he was scratched for an AHLer. He faded fast, and the line actually performed better for the last 2 1/2 months when he was not out there with them.
Just to be clear, this is not me attacking you or being defensive, just giving my take of your idea. |

If they could sign him for 1.5-2 would you do it?

Yes, assuming we could move one of our current defensemen (Schultz, Streit, AMac). |

As soon as AMac gets arrested on 4 charges of harrassment, I'll do it. |

Can always terminate Kane's contract and gain cap space then. |

Bill,
The comment has been made in the past that said prospect would benefit more in the NHL b/c of more "structure". I think that may have bode well for Ghost last year. Do you see any Flyers prospects on the current cusp of potentially vying for a roster spot this year that my fit this theory? |

Well, not if this accusation is true.
But, let's not be so quick to throw stones yet.
Our projected 3rd line center this year had his own legal issues once upon a time. |

Whatever happens with Schenn, I can sleep at night without worrying about waking up to 7 years 45 million. Thank you Hexy |

Well, if we could have Evander Kane for no hard assets at Cousins' contract, then I'd be all for it. |

Sam Gagner still turning out to be a productive player is a testament to his hockey sense... b/c yeah, his body and his skating were nowhere close to where they needed to be when then put him in the lineup. He could have easily ended up being another Rob Schremp. - Tomahawk
The environment into which they arrive is also huge. Sure, there's teenage superstars who can make due with anything, but most kids need help those first few years in the league. They need a coach who puts some trust in them and allows them opportunity to grow without looking foolish or being chewed out for it. They need a role. They need quality teammates (read: not "veterans" like Nick Schultz) who can help them become a pro and insulate them. I see someone like Fabbri, who is very similar to Konecny, have success on the Blues and think that, if Travis is ready (which is questionable), he can get much the same with our group. He won't be fed to the wolves by his little lonesome.
I think a lot of the kids who come up early and bust probably would have done so anyway. Many of the oft circulated names had big flaws, even for top kiddos. And many of them were put into terrible environments to boot. |

Cousins' one situation was different than whats being ongoing with E.Kane.
But it does sound like he just turned himself in for the prior incident
