Didn't think so. I guess in the photo the size of the empty areas around the track is a little deceiving. Weren't the Cosmos supposed to be building a stadium there too, or did that not go through?

They put in a bid with 3 other developers like 4 years ago and are still waiting to hear back. If NYRA is pushing for the isles like the article says that could be good for the isles. NYRA makes a boat load of money for NY State and they might want to keep them happy. Hey you never know

There's no way they're leaving Brooklyn you bunch of idiots. They just signed a 25 yrs lease. That's their home and the arena is awesome.

People that work there are great. I'd like to seek out an area they live in so they can be my neighbors.

It gets better, why would they opt-out when guaranteed money...???

I'm sure if they owned the new arena they would make a lot more money then they make in BK. They fill up the dates year round with other sporting events and concerts etc etc they would make a killing

Bolton was highest paid islander last season per games played.

I think queens would be a better venue. It's actually closer to the north shore islander fans which are the ones that pay for the higher priced seats. Those people can't got to Brooklyn that easily with LIRR. Citi field however you get best of both worlds. You have subways the LIRR and it's easy to drive there.

Barclays is a decent venue. Problem is the fans are cheap. So I'm not renewing my seasons by the Barclays center runs ticket sales and are horrible at doing it. Season ticket holders were treated horribly. They basically undercut me my tickets almost every game.

I read something somewhere which I think is a pretty valid point about the immediate area getting kind of overrun with arenas. How much business can these guys get? Where do the big shows go? Msg, barclays, the rock, willets hypothetically, Shat musicians can now do a NY borough tour if this arena gets built and make enough cash to be ok

Yeah this and the arena blows for hockey. That's why we're here now suck it up and deal with it

This could be the new owners trying to get some leverage with the Barclays folks. Ledecky said they want additional work done to accommodate the team, and now two separate discussions pop up about possible options to leave for Queens or Nassau. Makes more sense to me than them actually leaving, but who knows? This is 2016, the Year of Crazy Shat.

From the article:
The license agreement with the Barclays Center is unusual in that the arena pays the team a set fee annually in exchange for control of the team’s ticket and marketing operations. Experts have said this limits the Islanders new owners’ ability to benefit from any revenue growth, potentially playing a role in their interest to have their own arena as opposed to being a tenant.

I said it before and I'll say it again, this story of the Isles moving has more legs than we know. Obstructed view, lack of parking for players, travel, etc. all adds up. Ledecky addressed that. It may be ok for now, but they will NOT stay there for more than 5 years (my guess). When the Coyotes (Jets) came here in '96, they played at America West Arena (Suns). I haven't been to BC, so i don't know, but i watched games at AW and there were thousands of obstructed view seats. I do realize that BC is more state-of-the-art than AW was back then, but it was a crappy experience having to watch almost half the game on a video board. Even when i didn't have obstructed view seating, the experience wasn't much better. An arena built for basketball is just that. The Coyotes stayed there for 7 years before moving to Glendale. Noe they're looking to move again to get closer to Phoenix, which is a big reason why attendance is not very good, not to mention the team. Hammer away people.
