Keeping Barrie helps but need a strong Defensive D to get over the hump.

They wouldn't....they would be paying an NHL player their salary. That player would have to pass through waivers again to play in the AHL.

I honestly don't think either Biega or Pedan are very likely to be picked up but that contract isn't going to scare a team off Biega if a team likes him.

Why is it naïve to think they will all be better than Biega? Larsen has way more NHL experience than Biega. Tryamkin also has more high level pro experience. Put it this way, if Larsen and Tree fizzle out and end up back in Europe (highly unlikely), Benning will sign or trade for another player. Biega will be in Utica

Yup.

We have other tough Dmen on the team, don't need a 4th that couldn't crack the lineup last season of all seasons. He really doesn't have much value. If we can't get a pick back for him then waivers it is, and another lost gamble.
