I believe dustin penner is the only rfa to be signed to an offer sheet where it wasn't matched, and almost caused a fight between burke and lowe

Has he ever said no to something being "forced" down his throat?

We can do this with every draft every season
- Dan Petriw

its never that bad. I mean Tampa Literally cleaned up with almost all their picks.
Strome as of now is bigger best to his draft position than Bailey was to his draft.

And by no means am I implying Bailey is better than Strome. I do believe strome will have huge bounce back year this year and will be 2nd or 3rd in points on the team this year.

I'm not ready to write off strome yet but he must show he belongs in this league. if you look at bailey's draft he is in the top ten in points from that class...sometimes you just get a weak draft

I'm thinking JT, Ladd, Nelson, and Lee are going to score more points and PAP has a chance to score more than Strome as well. I'm thinking Stromer comes to camp in the best shape of his career and makes a rebound.
That said I thought Strome was going to have a bust out year last year and he totally disappointed obviously so time will tell.
I think the players who break out this year will be Leddy and Pullock on defensive as far as points.

Totally agree, this is where the Islanders were lacking under Wang and it was good to hear Ledecky mention this the other day.

This touches on a very good point. Its not so much a knock on Snow, but there's been a few high round picks that just aren't really very good. Is that on Snow? His scouts, or lack thereof? The point being that for all everyone likes to commend Snow for building up the draft pool, there's been quite a few swings and misses. I was very happy to hear the new ownership address the need for having the best scouts.

I still think Ho Sang will be one of our better young guns when he cracks the lineup. Set your alarm kid!

Strome is only one season removed from a really strong full-season rookie campaign. He looked out of place at times last year, but I haven't given up hope that he's still going to be a solid player. He's got a lot to prove this year though.

Will over skill!!!! Strome needs to dig deep and find a hunger that all great players in the league have. Seems he was lacking a desire last year.

I like Strome's chances of having a bounce back season. Hopefully the lines are more consistent and Strome is not stuck with Bailey and Kulemin.

I still think a lack of good coaching has played a part in the struggles of the young talent. It was nice to hear the owners mention scouting.

Maybe he'll have some success at center, if Staple's comments about him being the 2nd line center ring true. Who knows.

very true BT . that's draft was actually full of studs just seems we missed them. That's the power of having good scouts.

Zibanjad #6, Scheifele #7, Coutourier #8, Hamilton #9, Brodin #10, JT miller #15, Saad at 43, Trochek 64th , Gaudreau at 104, Shaw at 139, Palat at 208th.

All these guys have done more than Strome has for us those far.

- Spartiarti

Strome deserves this year as a blank piece of paper.
I think he is very talented and suffered a bad season due to misuse, poor coaching & lack of confidence(due to coaches lack of conf in him).

If they use him in the proper capacity, I think we'll see a much better player that last yr. We should not be ready to trade him- tho he"s not untouchable.

barzal is only prospect i wouldnt trade. I think he going to be best player not name Tavares that we drafted.

Ironic - in 2011 strome was drafted 5th, Kucherov was drafted 58th and Strome and De Colle wouldn't be enough to get him. Amazing how it works.

Goes to show you that either Snow are our scouts are not getting it done..

I'm just curious how short the leash actually is on Crappy. I know Ledecky said 3rd round, but if they come out of the gate slow, or hit a skid mid-season, do changes get made? Do the owners have some form of forecast or progress chart they think the team should be at? Or, is it strictly 3rd round or bust?

He wasn't passed a 59th time. Every team misses on draft picks. It's a crap shoot. Although I do think scouts make their names on 3rd-7th round picks. Yes the 1st rounders are extremely important to get right, but it's finding that gem in the later rounds.

You would think the leash is really short this year for Cappy, but with Garth it's hard to say that. I think he whent this far with Cappy and will give him every chance. I really think the Owners will clean house if the team does not do better than winning one round this year. Even if the Isles can re-sign JT, I doubt they want to waste his prime years hoping Garth and Cappy get it right.
