I'm not really too concerned with where strome has played but more with how he played last year. Lazy penalties, poor back checking, no interest in going to the front of the net, careless with the puck. If you play like that it doesn't matter where you play, you won't have success. He started the year on the top line with Tavares and we talking about how he should have been at center?
He had a write off of a season due to how he played and if he doesn't change that it won't matter if he's playing at wing or center. This is all on strome and his lack of effort. - Isles_since_6
Youre missing my point here.......its not about last season or the one before that. Its about the fact that the islanders drafted a skilled centerman with no place for him at center. This team needs to be more consistent with the young guys. Its why I mentioned Bailey and Nino. This has nothing to do with lazy penalties or poor backchecking etc.........all of those things are attributed to an unhappy player. Id be unhappy too if I was told to be something im not.....from a coach who's never done anything in hockey himself. |

KR, he played wing 95% of the time his rookie year scoring 50 points.
Your in the pros they pay you to play. If it's the wing suck it up and play!
6 nailed his post it was spot on. |

Not a bad guess.
I always figured Giroux had just grabbed his ass.
Can't come up with an explanation for this one though.

What part of you missed my point didnt you get? When did this become about Stromes worth or lack thereof? The point of this was about the drafting of a guy that was not needed and then when he's now told to be something he's not its a wonder why kinda attitude???
When Strome was drafted everyone (myself included) thought, now we have a skilled 2nd line center after JT. The isles montra has been to build down the middle. With a team that was rife with centermen, why not trade him for something that was needed? At the time of the draft, why not take that asset and use it to FINALLY get JT a winger? |

Don't be surprised if you hear a rumor linking the Isles to the Pilgrim State property. I've heard rumblings. - David_Volek
I've heard that one before. I'd be one happy camper, but I don't think that's happening. |

You draft the best FORWARD available and draft him.
Canada's world Jr team was 80% centers why? Because they are the best players available for the team. If you need a wing this year in Toronto will you pass on Mathews really? The center wing thing is ridiculous.
Bring it up to a GM and they will laugh at you.
Let me add if a drafted center can't play wing or pouts about it he doesn't belong in the NHL |

That rumor was floating around years ago before a decision was made to move to Barclays. The only factors in its favor are the available land and access from the LIRR.
I think it's highly unlikely that they would move back to Long Island let alone move out to Suffolk. |

It's not always as easy as a do what you're told kind of thing. Sometimes it just doesn't work for the player. Not saying that's the case but it may be? |

What are you talking about........Ive said that you draft the best player possible, but if you dont need another center you trade that asset and bring in what you need.

You draft the best possible player on the board no matter what. IF it is an amazing talent you find a way to fit him on the team and have him play any position. IF that player is upset over that then I agree he does not belong in the NHL. A lot of guys dont make the NHL and would play any position just to be there |

VERY interesting........as the new ownership said, they are trying to make this the best possible experience. If the Barclays wont do something to change the obstructed views, the isles will leave the Barclays center. That opt out clause is a legit possibility. Moving to Queens would be sooooooo much better for the real isles fans in nassau and suffolk. Not the coliseum, but closer than Brooklyn......AND you could tailgate again. |

Or take the #7 subway or the Port Washington branch of the LIRR.... |

Few years back Bettman said that the Barclays wasn't an option for the Isles. So, in regards to the rumors of going to Queens, never say never. If Ratners answer on the obstructed views is for fans to watch on their phones, something tells me that won't fly with Ledecky. If you are going to have the team there for 24 more years, I think the Isles owners are going to want Barclays to make the investment/modifications.
I miss the tailgating. |

I like this Ledecky guy already......just by the simple fact that he publicly spoke. Seems like he's ready willing and able to put a top notch product on the ice. When have we EVER seen that as isles fans? Not since the 80s....
Im all for a move to Queens......better for everyone involved. |
