Ticket question. I'm bringing my son up to Pitt for the week of opening night and staying downtown. I would like to get tickets for the Caps game but can only find $300 and up online. Is it easier and cheaper to scalp them? And if that fails are there viewing parties downtown for regular games?
- Topshelf Mountain

You'd be wise to wait a game. I'm sure the sky high prices on the ticket exchange is because of the banner raising on opening night.

It's been years since I scalped tickets so I can't make a recommendation. I certainly wouldn't buy any "paper" tickets.....like the kind you get when you print out a ticket at home on an 8x11 sheet of paper.

You can definitely scalp them cheaper. Now I say that not knowing how good those seats are. Given the fact we won the cup and it's against the Caps I'm not sure how much cheaper but after the game starts the price should drop. Not sure on the viewing parties but I'd suggest Milano's. Great pizza and it's right across the street from console. Cheap booze and a big crowd in there as well.

Thanks. He's never been to Pitt, he'll be happy as hell with any atmosphere for the game.

How old is he? Milano's sometimes gets a younger crowd there for the drinks more so then the game.

Even though this was from the last thread I thought it was interesting so I carried it over. I don't disagreeing that Ryan isn't the type of player that is going to carry a franchise but let's be honest, there's only about 10-12 true franchise forwards in the entire league. Considering there were only 16 wings that scored 30+ goals last season, being 1 of those 16 players is a huge accomplishment. Of those 16 8 were right wings so Ryan getting back to being a 30 goal scorer would put him in the top 10 at his position production wise. Being a top 10 player at your position should make that player better than the 3rd or 4th scoring option on any team.

Well I said cup team. The guy who is number 1 on a bad Toronto team is #3 on a cup team. He would be the 3rd scoring option on our team (since we'd have to dump Malkin or Kessel to fit him in the cap) I think that is typical of a player of his caliber on a cup team/legit contender.

true that... the sad reality for those kids, unless their parents have done the responsible thing and taught them to cheer for some other team. Any team (except edmonton)
- kaptaan

Yeah, I guess those Vancouver kids are lucky to be able to count all of those Cups... oh wait, nevermind.

I would wait, but his Fall break is that week and it coincides with a slowdown in my industry.

Maybe Primanti Bros would be better. They always have the game on a number of big screens and specials during the game.

My advice just spend the money. You're coming all the way up here and that crowd should be pretty electric.

Listen to this guy, there is no guarantee that you ever get the chance again to see the Pens raise a Cup banner, and what an experience to share with your son.

Dont miss such a great opportunity over a couple hundred bucks.

Pens fans are lucky. Pens have won a cup atleast once every decade since the 90s. I trust that trend will continue

My cutoff for two tickets is $500, I'm sure that will get us in the door but I'd like to be lower bowl.

Not sure if we'll be there for the game, but we'll be stopping in there at least a couple times. Thanks for the suggestion!

Honestly I should know better. I'm a 76ers fan and the local media guys that cover the Sixers are hot garbage hack jobs too. Shouldn't hold click bate ass hats against an entire fan base. All though there are some guys on your blog that are nut jobs too

Nothing worse than a media hack lying to support a narrative that he's trying to create out of thin air. It's sad, 'cause I was really down on the trade initially because Phil was supposed to be such a bad guy. As we found out, he's a great guy. His team mates love him. Just a little awkward in the spotlight.

The thing is most sane fans knew that he was an awkward spotlight kind of guy from the interviews he's done over the years. There are ones that think he should've done more when the team was in downward spiral but he led the team every year in points and goals. The rest of the team just sucked around him. Hard to find players like kessel.
