To your point - stopped at Golfsmith saw some Travis Mathew shirts I liked - but they were $80, went on Ebay and got a brand new one all in with shipping for $29

$60 shoes
3 dozen ProV1s for $50 - these are used but mint condition. Cheaper than most very low end 2 piece balls

One day closer for Vesey. Buffalo now with its own Kane problems. Hmmm. Not really connected but a distraction for Tim Murray for sure.

Once we get into August, those 2 weeks are going to fly by and Stan is going to nab JV. The question is which national guy will send out the tweet that says "hearing Chicago and Vesey are close to a deal " ?

My money is on Craig Constance or Pierre Lebrun

This gave me a good chuckle. My money would be on Leabrun.

I'm kind of just teasing myself.

Of course I'll always be a Sox fan at heart, but i love the way this current Cubs team was built through its own farm system and i can't stand the way the Sox are constructed. Horrible management recently, and yes we won in 2005 but its been downhill since.

Jack I was born and raised in the north burbs, but my dad grew up in Beverly...
I went to see both teams growing up in the 70s and both were quite bad.
I was thrilled to see the Sox win it, but haven't watched baseball for sometime until last fall when the Cubs seemed to really start putting it together.

I loathe Reinsdorf and his continued employment of guys who can't get the job done. Jerry won 6 titles because of Michael not Krause and then ran Jackson out of town. Yet Gar/Pax continue to frank up and are granted cart-blanche...and fans continue to flock to the UC like sheep.

With the Sox you have a manager who has no business being there and a front office that continues to sacrifice whatever future that team has by trading away from their minor league system and then getting middling fill ins. Who is the last position player the Sox brought up from their minor league system that was successful...Maggs? Crede? I think Hahn knows what needs to be done, but can't because his hands are tied.

Meanwhile the Cubs are a fun team to watch and have invested heavily in their system and built. I'd much rather watch them for a bit while waiting for puck drop in a couple months here.

Interesting take on the game's speed from Brad Richards. https://ca.sports.yahoo.c...-in-hockey-134805489.html

IMO the way he described the game today, pure north-south speed, pucks to the net, crash the net, look for rebounds, block tons of shots was exactly how the Pens won the cup and how Sullivan coached them. I'd add a stifling speed backcheck as well.

If what you did for a living generating billions of dollars for your employer, would it be disgusting for you to be paid your fair and earned share of that money?

I will never understand why people think that being able to go to a professional sporting event or a buy a pair of Nike's should be some sort of birthright. And I say that as someone who could almost never afford to go sporting events growing up.

- BreakoutHockey

Where did I say the producer (talent/labor) shouldn't get paid? Or that the guy who took the risk to own a team shouldn't get paid? Or that people have a "right" to see big league sports? Or have a "right" to wear a pair of 250 dollar shoes?

And I'm saying this as a kid who couldn't afford 10-15 bucks for a double header when sport was affordable for a slob who punched a time clock. Before every nickel, real or imagined, was extracted and fought over. Before it was figured out that juiced bodies, juiced bats, juiced balls brought more money at the expense of hitting the cut off man and laying down a bunt. Before every stadium had a different corporate name every 3rd year.

You'd like to think the minds that be that figured out how to make billions out of sport and priced the dreg out aren't risking passing the sport down to the next generations thereby growing the sport.

The shame for me, a guy who's taken many many kids to minor pro or junior games, is most kids rarely, if ever, get to see a big league game.

I'm sure Richards comments will lead to pages of fan thoughts.

Brad: Matt Cullen is still capable of playing up front at the age of 40 because he can still really skate, you can't.

The NHL game changed with the removal of the center line. Everybody at top speed for 35-40 seconds, stretch passes, pound the hell out of the Dmen.

Generally the game is much better today than in the Jacques Lemaire New Jersey Devil dead puck era and staged fights between stiffs who couldn't play the game. Is it perfect - no; hate the value placed on blocking shots, size of players, replays for ticky tac offsides, coaches challenges.

But it is sure better than watching the NBA.

When the Sox won I got emotional for all my friends who were Sox fans, but I grew up when there were no championships in Chicago except for the Bears. So time took the hate out of me for the Sox and replaced it with empathy, even if you root for the Cubs it won't be the same for you, as it was when the Sox won I imagine. They are a breath of fresh air but I still worry they are a starting stud pitcher and closer away. You'll probably laugh but I can't even watch a Cubs playoff series until they have won 1 game in it, so I never saw the Mets series last year.

I would agree with both BR and RJ. The goalies are to good and to big. Look the only way you score in this league is off deflections, rebounds and screens (off of both teams: skates, sticks, shin pads). The rare player that can just get it past goalies with out that help: ovie, stamkos, kaner, etc...

I can see how he thinks that, since TT, Shaw were traded, couldn't resign Ladd. I see it more as even since we added Campbell and Kempny and have $2.4 mil to spend

He only really mentions Teuvo as being the reason for the negative grade. I think the loss of Teuvo isn't as big a loss as some might think. Yes he flashes potential but until he bulks up and improves his strength significantly I think he'll continue to struggle.

Wait till he realizes how good Kempny is and goes on one of his rants, and imagine if we get Vesey, bloggers for other teams will explode, it'll be great

Can't wait for the Panarin signing as well all these negative nellies can find something else to moan about

I don't post too often, but I frequent this site all the time. Thank you to all who spend time posting great thoughts/opinions/facts/etc. You guys help make the days till puck drop easier to handle.

That said, I can't remember a time that "he who shall not be named" Coyotes blogger had one positive thing to say about the Hawks. If there was a stance he could take on the Hawks, I feel like it's ALWAYS negative.

It's disgusting cuz a hack who punches a time clock can only afford to see a big league game once a yr with his two kids and wife.

It's disgusting cuz your cable bill is 100 bucks to see these guys play.

It's disgusting cuz it costs 250 bucks for a pair of Nike's made by a 9 yr old overseas for 7 bucks.

But I will say this I'd rather see the talent (labor) get overpaid than the robber baron.

- Mr Ricochet

We then, the hack has to get a better job. And if that means more schooling/training, so be it. Whatever it takes. Athletes get the money cuz they have a talent 99.9999% of the population doesn't. Supply and demand, pure and simple.

My son-in-law female doged about his lower salary several years ago. I told him quit whining and get some type of certification. Never liked college. Not for everyone by any means. He did. Mechanics and car body work. Now he runs the shop at a custom hot-rodder. Provides nicely for my little girl and three grandchildren.

Prices for everything is what people will pay. Why are the Cubs doing that 1914 AA lounge and three others? Like the clubs at UC, people pay for it. I wish my tix were cheaper but if I did not buy them, there are tens of thousands of others who would.

Like Norm Peterson said, "it's a dog-eat-dog world and I'm wearing Milkbone underwear".

He's great third-line depth in a Stanley Cup final if you are playing a team who plays the same style as the Hawks (Tampa Bay, for instance). But against a heavy team... Not so much.

separate topic - Scuderi. LA has 8 defensemen under contract and are up against the cap. They could trade him and retain part of their portion of his salary. They could try to waive him and send him to the minors. I think in either case he would retire. Wouldn't that give the Hawks additional cap room?
- -Doh-

If LA trades Scuderi they can not retain any salary. A NHL contract can only have salary retained on it twice in a trade and Pens and Chicago already retained part of the salary on this contract for Scuderi.

I think the only way the Hawks get some cap back, is if he end up retiring.
