Holland has produced at .41 pts per game the last 2 years he might be a better option at 4th line Center then Moose. I think someone claims him IMO. - kmw4631
I think Holland will be claimed as well, just not by Chicago. My money would be on Carolina, NJ or Arizona. |

The one issue is what is .41 per game player (35 pts per 80) make in the NHL? Shaw got 3.9 I think the reason he does not get claimed is because what if he gets 2 mil per year? you cannot walk away from arbitration if its under 3.9. |

I didn't watch the entire thing but my impression from the video is that Vesey doesn't backcheck. Time after time he dogs it getting back and is the last guy into the d-zone. He does have good speed but it's typical of a lot of offensive players where the speed going on offense far exceeds the speed going on defense, of maybe better put would be his determination going on offense far exceeds his determination going back on defense. - EbonyRaptor
This can happen to a guy who's playing at too low a level. They have success without trying and inevitably develop bad habits. It's not unheard of for a kid to regress in this instance.
Didn't watch the clip and ain't saying this happened to Vesey just making an observation.

Its laughable the criticism Crosby gets which usually ramps up if the team isn't going well. Is there a player in the league that the Penguins would trade even up for him? McDavid maybe but that's all. - RickJ
Seems a guy gets a label, right or wrong, when he's young and it's near impossible to shake it........ Crosby was absolutely world class in every aspect in the playoffs. The abuse he took was borderline criminal, same as Toews deals with, and he's learned to skate away.

I think Panarin has just scratched the surface. He gets an offseason to adjust his workouts to help him through an NHL season. I think you see him with more confidence this season. I think he pots 40. He has the hands and release. He will get plenty of one timers from Kane and on the PP. I also think we see him attack more with the puck entering the zone. Instead of deferring to Kane we will see him try to get to the middle of the ice and find room to unleash that nasty wrister of his. - bhawks2241
With his temperment, skill, skating vs world class players in practice and at 24 yrs old I think it's safe to say he'll improve.
Easy to make the case to sign him now before it just gets harder after next season.

I'm seriously considering switching over and becoming a Cubs fan.

Absolutely not.
If you're over the age of 10, you can't switch teams just because one is doing better than the other.
You're a grown man, right?

Fabbri did play great in the playoffs, but I'm waiting to see what he can do over time and see if he can keep that pace up for an 82-game season and year after year. Ville Leino had a monster playoff performance in 2010 but fizzled out since.
So the jury is still out on Fabbri versus Schmaltz. Fabbri is ahead right now merely because he's actually played an entire NHL season versus zero games for Schmaltz. - AEL_Fox
Agreed, show me you can do it again. We can, and do, say that with any player who is good as a rookie. But I like his skill/ferocity enough to put my dollar on this kid to be a 10-15 yr top 6 guy.
Remember he came straight from Major Junior with out stopping in the AHL. Not easy to do for even the most skilled of players let alone a 21st pick at his size.
Just as an FYI Lieno had 7-8 yrs pro under his belt before he had his bust out playoffs, but I get your point.

He was only tough because douche bags like Backes, Ott and Brouwer had his back.
Fabbri is going to find life in the NHL a little more difficult going forward without those goons behind him. - dahawks8819
Wish the Hawks had a couple of these the last 4-5 years. Bet Seabs, Keith, Kane and Toews do too.

Sure he can! Do you eat cheerios every morning? Of course not, you switch. Age is no factor. The man wants to be a Cub fan, let him be a Cub fan. This is what makes America great!!! |

As far as Panarin getting poached by the Blues (because his friend Tarasenko is there), well if the kid wants to go, let him GO...by way of a trade ala Saad to Columbus, or Las vegas or elsewhere.
And do you REALLY think Tarasenko liked the way his minutes were handled in the playoff?
Will his pitch to Panarin be, "Come here and enjoy playing with less PP and regular ice time but you pockest will be lined with gold...
Players want ice time - really important to them. - wiz1901
This is Hitch's last year so that Tarasenko pitch will be hollow. If Tarasenko didn't play a rat hockey style he'd have more minutes than what he knows what to do with. No such problem with Panarin.
Veeeeeeeeery interesting thought you have there about Las Vegas. What would they give up to add a 25 yr old offensive dynamo stud like Panarin? A few 1st round picks that will be in the top 5!!!
If nothing else leverage for StanBowPops&McD.

Totally AGREE !! Panarin is the youth and speed that this team needs to build around. Letting him go to keep ALL the older core would be a mistake long term. Of course we all love these guys but this year will show what this core is all about. Were they just tired from all the hockey these past few years, or are the signs of aging finally settling in ? Somebody from the core 6 or 7 MUST be dealt eventually to sign Panarin and make him the nucleus of the NEW core !! Unfortunately, IMO, a year of mediocrity from this team will severely diminish the worth of Crawford, who probably is the only chip that can be moved with a solid replacement in the wings in Darling. I guess we'll find out in the 1st month or so if the legs are back from this summer's long break for the core. - Hawkytalk
Yep, and even if the core come out smoking this year it's a couple short years away best case scenario they start to slow down. Panarin has 5-6-7 years at least before he begins to slow.
StanBow has to maximize this kid one way or the other next offseason.

No need to think about that in my eyes......... PANARIN - Hawkytalk
You are more Jim Nill and I guess I'm more StanBow. I gotta think on it and scratch 25-30 holes in my head before I decide.
Tarasenko reminds me off a Peter Forseberg without the compete in the defensive and neutral zone. A beat of a man offensively.

Why is it disgusting?
If ABC/ESPN and Turner are willing to pay almost $3BILLION per year for national TV rights - why is it disgusting that the players should get a big piece of it?
I agree with you that players need to maximize their earnings - it's a short career without even bringing up that each player in any pro sport is only one bad hit away from prematurely ending it.
If a player wants to go for the dough, that's fine with me. - StLBravesFan
It's disgusting cuz a hack who punches a time clock can only afford to see a big league game once a yr with his two kids and wife.
It's disgusting cuz your cable bill is 100 bucks to see these guys play.
It's disgusting cuz it costs 250 bucks for a pair of Nike's made by a 9 yr old overseas for 7 bucks.
But I will say this I'd rather see the talent (labor) get overpaid than the robber baron.

Yeah. This is happening in golf too. Anyone who golfs and has gone to buy golf shoes recently knows what I am talking about. You cannot get a decent pair of golf shoes for under $120. Some of the Tiger Woods shoes go for over $200. It is insane the price increases the last 2-3 years. |

There are developmental differences though between hoops and football compared to baseball and hockey. Once a 20 yr old turns pro in baseball and hockey there are legitimate developmental leagues with multiple levels for development, not so for hoops and football.
I get your point though.

Markets, guys - supply and demand - the American way.
Ticket prices are high because 21,000 people (plus the waiting list) are willing to pay those prices to see a game.
Cable prices are high because millions of us are willing to pay those prices to watch games on our comfortable couches.
And your comment about Nike's is absolutely the truth and leads to my final point: if player salaries were cut in half - to a quarter - to 10% - of what they are now, ticket prices and cable prices - and Nike prices - would not decrease. Owners price to maximize revenues - as long as the public is willing to pay $100+ times 40+ games, Wirtz won't lower prices by a dime. |

This always reminds me of my old man, talking about sporting shoes. He shelled all my life for Dexters but in the 70's when I told him my jr high hoops coach wants us all to have Converse he said ok, how much? When I told him 15 bucks he gave me that don't f&%# with me look and said if I ever asked him for 15 bucks for a pair of "tennis" shoes he'd pound me. .....I had to get them by "other" means if you follow me.
I understand the free market principles but doesn't mean I have to participate in them. Guess that's why most marketers know not to even approach anyone over 50 yrs old.
