Great trade but Mika does not make your team faster. Doesn't mean he's not worth it, I love the guy, love how he plays and he will fit in that jersey beautifully. Hopefully he plays with Nash and they can become one of the best second lines in the league. Cuz I believe Miller zucc and Stephan proved they can whip that one spot. - RedWingCANSIR

Sens are huge in Canada, but NY is the big market team. Z is playing for a contract under the bright lights of Madison Garden. If this doesn't get him off his ass, nothing will. No Ranger fan will trash Brass, great player who always brought it in the big games.
We're just happy to get a young player with great potential in a trade instead of the usual 3rd/4th line grinder. If it doesn't work out you can sign him next year. - Fenrir

I'm more of a Draisitl inflatable doll kind of person. . . For show purposes only of course. Although a fat head wouldn't be a bad idea. - nyrangers9479
Those things really need to be cleaned out well to prevent infection. I, uh, had a friend that had a problem with a Margaret Thatcher Fleshlight. |

In regards to TomBurrton from the last thread I did a breakdown on the draft and we shouldn't lose anyone significant.
7 3 1
Nash MZ Stepan Zucc Kreider Miller Hayes
Girardi and Staal must be protected and Skeji doesn't have to be protected and we protect McD. There's something tricky with McIlrath about the amount of games he has to play to be exposed (I believe over 40 he's exposed)
Hank
Klein Holden Fast Grabner Raanta will be exposed.

I'll miss Brass also but really like this trade . Save a ton of money for a few pts and get younger . Just hope MZ can play in NYC cause we've all seen lots of Rangers that couldn't |

I do not like this deal. I guess that should make Rangers fans happy. Zibanejad has holes in his game still, but he is young and has had some tumultuous times in his development. He was left in EU for a year where the team was dismantled and he was left on a very bad team and slogged out a very tough time before coming to North America.
One of the big problems he's had over the first years of his career has been coming to camp in shape. He was supposed to be a lock to make the team 2 years ago, but because he had such a poor training camp, he spent the start of the season in the AHL.
This summer he stayed in North America instead of going back to Sweden, like he usually did. He was under the strict guidance of a professional trainer instead of doing more basic training during the summer. This was hopefully going to be a big year for Zibanejad. I was hoping that a well conditioned and strong Zibanejad would come into the season and be more consistent, not only for the start of the season, but throughout the year as a result.
I really hope Brassard finds chemistry with Ryan on the 2nd line... |

Sens - thanks for the info. In terms of your point in the pick, I can definitely see that and interesting the answer the Ottawa GM gave to that question. But knowing Melnyk as we do, money was very likely a motivator.
Hopefully the growth Z has exhibited the last few years continues and the issues you pointed out get remediated as he continues to mature. Personally, I thought he took a big step forward last year, putting some of those questions behind him but they still linger based upon what you pointed out. - airjan23
I am honestly not trying to troll whatsoever, but Zibby has NOT taken any steps forward in the past couple seasons. While he may have picked up a few extra 2nd assists here or there, his overall game hasn't improved. His goal scoring (what he needs to do to be effective because he is simply not a playmaker) hasn't improved.
Even just subjectively, he was more of an impact player 3 seasons ago. He went from being a solid north/south power forward to a guy who shys away from contact and doesn't win many puck battles.
On the plus side, he has really started to work out properly this summer and may turn it around. Is it because it is a contract year? Sens management had been extremely dissapointed with his off ice training in the summer in past years.
I honestly feel as though he is more suited as a winger. Either way, he is not going to make the players around him better but can control the play if he decides to bring back some drive and physicality.
Numbers aside, I see him as a great 3rd line center. He just has a hard time finding chemistry with other talented players. When Turris went down last year, it was Zibbys opportunity. What happened? JG Pageau leapfrogged him and became our best centerman. |

Sorry if I am coming across as trolling but any Sens fan who watched regularly will tell you that he has not improved over the last 3 seasons. I am not trying to be an ass.
He has tons of potential. The question is just if he has the desire (and personality) to play the way he needs to, to achieve it. |

Regardless of how a player is getting points, if his totals steadily increase each year then he is improving. He still has holes in his game, and consistency is obviously his biggest issue still. To say he hasnt improved in 3 years really comes accross as sour grapes.
I'd say anything less than 50 points would be a dissapointment. However, he has a nasty habit of starting slow, so dont push the panic button if he does so again.

How well does he use his size? Does he play a physical game? I saw he only had 16 or 18 PIM which means he plays disiplined but that might necessarily mean he doesn't use his size well. |

Nash Stepan Zucc
Kreider MZ Miller
Buchnevich Hayes Grabner
Hrivik/Gerbe/Jooris Huddler?? Fast
I would actually try and package Fast for a quality 3rd liner with some grit. Gerbe/Hrivik/Jooris/Jensen/Fast all one in the same to me. |
