Arbitrary numbers. Always too low; always too high. It's just how it is.

4.5 is a good number but he might be asking that on a 1 or 2 year deal. Long term he probably would want more

It's only $4.75 million for a one year ask in arbitration. I am sure his initial asking price is much more for a long term deal. Unlike past situations with RFAs, the Rangers have some cap room to play with, so they really should try to get him locked up longer term.

Arbitration is for a 1 or 2 year deal. If that's what he wants for 1 or 2 years, he will cost more to buy up UFA years on a long term deal.

Yeah but the 4.75 is as ridiculous as the 3.2. You know how it works Pete. So I highly doubt it goes above 5 for longer.

Its no secret I like Hayes and think the potential is there to be a top 6 center, but I'm a realist and don't want to overpay for him. Little different situation than Kreiders, but lets say Hayes scores 20 next year and he gets a 1 year deal this year, will you be advocating he gets 5+ next year. I sure as hell wont.

I am still saying 4 years/$18 million, but wouldn't be surprised as high as 4 years/$20 million. Not saying that is what I would prefer, just saying what I think it will be.

I like you and TPC's numbers.

It's funny, TPC the biggest Kreider homer on here, wants a fair deal.
