Ottawas GM says that Gortons asking price was significantly higher in April.

I wonder what asking price can be considered significantly higher than Zibanajed and a 2nd?

- rangerdanger94

Well wasn't the rumor the Rangers were close to trading up to the 1st round of the draft? Maybe he wanted a 1st in 2016 instead of the 2nd in 2018

4.5 would be my ceiling.

Gives the Rangers some meat on the bone if he stays a 20 g scorer. Also if he hits 30 its kind of a bargain.

- mdw7413

you think?

this isn't 2007. 4.5 per doesn't get you what it used to. that would be great value on a 4-5 year deal for Kreider. Probably looking at 5+

Well the thing with Kreider is we aren't talking a breakout year in terms of going from 10 goals to 20+ like Miller, but more of 20+ to 30+. So even if he doesn't break out, he's still producing pretty damn well.
- rangerdanger94

What is he producing well of? Taking out star goalies?

And if he stays at 20, 5 mill sucks balls. So we come full circle again, if you think he will score 30 you are fine with 5. If you don't like myself, its a sh!t deal.

When 4th liners like Prust, Martin, Boyle, and Cizikas are making 2.5M+ per year, you gotta realize that players contracts have inflated across the board.

30 goals gets you 6.5M a year in today's NHL. 20 for 5 is more fair than you think

Just for reference, Brassard signed his $5M per year extension coming off a career high 18 goals and 45 points.

Really... So Hagelin who was much better all around player, had 4 less goals and everyone said there is no way he is worth 4 mill. Kreider with 4 more goal now is worth 5 - 5.25. You guys (frank)ing crack me up.

Not really. Rangers desperately needed a center. Would have cost more to get one as a ufa.

I think most people on here in hindsight would have no issues with Hagelin at 4M now

Rangers don't desperately need a big, fast, young, strong, proven 20 goal scoring winger?

True, but its funny that a guy who I would say was more important to the overall team than Kreider was not worth 4 but Kreider is worth 5-5.25.

TPC's deal is good.

If you're talking like Kyle Okposo in free agency for $6M a year for 7 years when they're already in their late 20s, then yea sure
