The 11-12 elimination by the Devils drove me nuts.
- flyguy12

That was a tough one, because it really felt like the Flyers never had a chance in that series despite winning Game 1.

that Joffrey Lupul OT winner was such a relief goal, being up 3-1 and almost losing the series.

going one year further, in 08-09, that pgh series is still a hard pill to swallow. dan carcillo with one of the worst timed fights in the history of the playoffs. still think if we couldve won that game, a lot of doubt would be in their heads going back for game 7, a game in which anything couldve happened.

Sooo that series (i Forget what game it was after but one of the PGH home games, my buddies and I were out in the southside in our flyers gear, and our server comes up too our table with 4 pitchers of beer and goes these are for you from Max Tablot lol. He waved from the other side of the bar. We didnt talk to him or anything but it was pretty cool, which made it sting worse with how the series ended. That was the day of my Graduation too, was a annoying time to be in PGH as a flyers fan.

Max Talbot is the man. One Penguin I never disliked, and loved him as a Flyer.

The only other Penguin I never really dislliked was Mario Lemieux. Hell, I just wished that he played for the Flyers!

haha, you are right on both counts.

I never saw it, but I read about it. It wasn't some mall Santa who stopped by and we just decided to throw snowballs at him. The mall Santa didn't show up, so they found a guy in the first row and asked him if he'd like to fill in. Dude was piss-drunk, could barely stand, looked like hell, and the Eagles' production team didn't really go all-out in their production, either. You're absolutely right, it was well-deserved.

I actually did a report on that sr yr of college, it was wayy before my time, but it was fun to actually learn the real story. I honestly can't think of a football fan base that wouldn't have done the same thing...

Yeah it's true. The 2009-10 season was a rollercoaster and frustrating, as the team really underachieved. But the playoff run made it a load of fun.

I think a lot of it has to do with expectations going in. Last year was a fun year for me, because I felt that they overachieved by making the playoffs.

Also, July and August are the worst months of the year

Anyone else planning on going to Toronto for the Flyers/TML HHOF game and the Legends game (captained by Lindros and Salming)?

The "goaltending is optional " series was a blast. Especially the game where G and Couturier each had a hatty. And Bryz (weird after my comments on goalies ) robbed Letang of a slam sunk goal.

I struggled accepting Jagr and Talbot as Flyers. I hated Talbot like I did Chris Neil, James Neal or a Colby Armstrong.

"There’s nothing wrong with being average in the NHL,” Pfeffer said. “An average NHLer is worth a heck of a lot and that’s what Shea Weber is.”

If Weber is average, I shudder to think how he'd describe AMac.

Conclusion: This man, while not an idiot, is very short-sighted and is the kind of the person the anti-analytics crowd uses as incorrect examples of all analytics fans.

Depends on his shot differentials. If his team attempts more shots than they allow when he's on the ice, Pfeffer would say he's better than Shea Weber.

He actually says he didn't even use shot differentials. He used goals because the sample size was big enough.

Also, he means average as in a #3 defenseman.

Yes, I know. That was a joke.

But if that's the case, then any player who has been in the league 4-5 years should not be subject to being judged on CORSI, yet that is still the most widely-accepted usage of numbers to describe a player.

No matter how you look at his numbers, they weren't very good last year. They were okay

Yeah they just folded - after that wild high-scoring 1st round against the Penguins it was clear the Flyers didn't want to 'work' for it and switch up their game plan against the Devils. I feel like they had the personnel to adjust and take out the Devils too. Could have been in the Finals against Richie and Carts...

Those were two separate games I believe...thing Bryz robbed Letang in game 1, the game they came back and Jake won in OT. I was in OKC at a tilted kilt by myself watching that game as the Thunder were playing. No sound and everyone kept asking for them to put the Thunder game on.

What was funny to hear was all the Thunder fans talk about how good Crosby was. I would ask do you like lebron? ohhhh noooo (frank) lebron...okay then

You know...one time he was on the Flyers and a Pens fan came up to him and Talbot signed his name with his Pens number

Carrillo pummeling Talbot had nothing to do with Biron not being able to control his rebounds....I think this is one of the stupidest fairy tales in recent memory
