I said it yesterday, I'd go for Kane if it only costs depth players. No picks or prospects. However, if Detroit comes calling first with an offer of either Nyquist or Tartar for Sbisa, you go for it.
- Marwood

I wouldn't do a 1st or blue chip prospect, but i'd consider other options.

I like that Detroit deal. Nyquist for sure.

Ok, I usually sit on the sidelines and play nice.....BUT anyone that thinks Sbisa brings either Tatar is on glue. Even Nyquist, who will be 27 when the season starts will take a LOAD more than Sbisa.

Edler should have been moved two seasons ago, and I would be SO happy to get a player of Tatar's quality for him....but I doubt he has enough value to get that done.

Landeskog is a pipe dream . We don't even know he is available. Just fun to speculate.

Kane is available but I hope we look at other options first.

re Landy, i'm with ya. just fun to consider.

I also think Kane could be had for reason's we've all gone over a few times already.
I think he could be had for (relatively) cheap.
pick, player, prospect.

2nd, Sbisa, Gaunce.

That's CBJ 2nd rounder, a young 4-5 mobile Dman that hits and still has decent upside and a former 1st round pick that can slot in for cheap on the 4th line.

I'd do that deal, but that would be my max offer.

This is a decent offer.

Trading top prospects for Kane is nuts . Prospects for Kane is not as bad if it is like Etem or Sven . With Kane I don't mind giving up a second round pick and a salary dump but I wouldn't go all in to get him.

The reason we talk about Landeskog is people like Kuzma and Carol bring up his name. Most know it is a very slim chance .

I just don't think Sven, Sbisa & 2nd gets you Kane, someone will offer more.

I agree that Sbisa is not enough but Nyquist year last year was a step back and his numbers are that much better than what we have currently .

Tatar is a little better but still I wouldn't jump all in. A sensible deal yes I would do but not much more

possibly.
i think a lot of GM's would be weary of ponying up a lot.
plenty of red flags there.

Because of the risk factor I would not go much higher . Someone else can have the remaining two years then.

Right, we got 2.
1 to spare to fill a need in our lineup.

I fully understand. I am curious to see how the Comets rank this year. I think Benning has made some slick moves with Stecher , Gartieg , Megna , D Aoust and Carcone . It is almost like he got two free second round picks.

Abols and Lockwood might be decent picks also. When I look back at guys like Olsen Brisebois and a few others make me feel more secure than others about not minding giving up a second round pick.

As long as Benning keeps hitting it out of the park with firsts we are going to win .

It's ours now, why not keep it.

I'm assuming you weren't one of the people freaking out when picks were involved in previous trades?

IN a reality where Nick Kronwall is your best defender and he's 34 and was -21 last year

from last blog

I dunno.
The Sedin's seem to sort of get stale with their line mates (or opposing teams figure our how to play them) and require a change from time to time.
I think it's fine to mix it up and add a puck retriever (Burrows) a speedy honey badger (Hansen), a PF (JV).
It keeps the defense on their toes and allows the scoring to be spread throughout the lineup.
nothing wrong with that imo.

- dbot

that is 100% right. Sedins are extremely versatile in their game in that regard. Shaking it up seems to ignite them. Opposing teams figure it out and learn to shut them down. Switching to a different winger can change it all, especially in a playoff series.
Recall when Daniel went down years ago and henrik caught on fire without him.... Won the scoring title that year. He became a much better player from it. It made him a superstar.
Not a bad idea to play them apart from time to time for short periods to inspire them in new ways, which of course is linked to their linemates talents. Remember when they were reunited? Crazy good.
that was a good post dbot

The thing about Nyquist and Tatar is they are nice but not something I would spend a lot to get. They have some slick moves but are softer smaller players. I think Svens numbers will be close to theirs this year. Nyquist had 17 goals last year Sven 15. He had something like 26 assists or around that but he went backwards .

You are correct , because if you checked the list of available UFAs you would no there are no upgrades left for a top 6 stop gap.
- VANTEL

There are a few, Hudler, Tlusty, Versteeg (i think?), Fleischmann, that have experience in the top 6. Much better to add one of those guys for 1-2 years than giving up a prospect or roster player cause I dont see any position where the Canucks can deal from a position of strength.

If Sbisa = Schenn I m all in. I am not willing to give up the farm for him though.
