Or buyout/trade Filp, trade Bishop which frees up plenty of cap space. Keep Garrison for the time being, our D isn't all that solid as is and with a young kid in net a guy like Garrison is good back there.

Basically after next year no Filp, Johnson, Bishop is about $13 in cap space. Should be able to handle signing who you need with that.

This is next summer wise. With Callahan going on ltir they won't need to make a move right now. When he is ready to come back you can expose a depth forward to waivers and hope someone claims him or just bury him. It's hard to tell exactly what type of move needs to be made until the 3 rfas are signed.

With $8.5m in cap space can we sign the 3 RFAs? Arguments sake Kucherov gets $6.5m that leaves $2m for two guys which is hardly a raise for either of them. They don't really deserve big raises as of yet but they will get some raise.

It would be smarter to just buy him out next year.

Absolutely. Though the downside there is exposing one of Palat, Killorn, or Namestnikov. If you can spend the first round pick to send Filppula away for a lesser asset you can protect another core player.

Good position to be in having too much talent and not enough cap.

You would be able to buy him out prior to the expansion draft.

No but with some ltir flexibility they don't necessarily have to make a move now. Maybe a few months into the season they move a paquette or condra.
