Ivan has a great attitude and work ethic. I would not be worried even a little bit if he had to be sent back to Brandon for another year.

I think they will all be NHL players, the question is: will they be solid or stars?

I'd really surprised if, out of Provorov, Sanheim, Morin, Konecny, Rubtsov, Lindblom, Aube-Kubel, Laberge, Allison, Myers and Haag, at least 3 or 4 don't become stars/impact players.

Also, I think it's a fair bet that out of Stolarz, Lyon, Hart, Sandstrom and Tomek, that at least one becomes a quality NHL starting goalie.

The future of this team is looking very good!

It really is looking good. If some of the young guys don't break through this year then it will surely be the next. When you look at the roster, so many are former 1rst or 2nd rounders...and the Flyers have a boatload....when you can start to hit on 5 th rounders or Free agent guys then you really have something.

They should look in to the rules and try to tweak them somewhat. Maybe do some kind of "exceptional status" like they do coming in to the CHL level. One player for each NHL team who can be designated as such and thus allowed to play as an underager in the AHL.

I know it has probably been discussed over and over and I understand the reasoning behind why the CHL wants to keep its biggest draws/most talented under 20 players for as long as possible.

But the argument can be made that it hurts the players.

Just thinking out loud and have no illusions that this is some sort of original idea on my part.

I also think that not every team would be using it and thus gutting the CHL of all its best players because not all of the players are ready for even the AHL level yet.

It's rarely done in the CHL leagues........The Q doesn't allow it, the OHL has done it I think 5 times, & I can't recall the WHL ever doing it but not restricting it.

The CHL teams when they get some of these players, it does help their revenue so to take that away if the player doesn't win an NHL roster spot right away at 18 hurts that league & that specific junior team.

I would even limit it to only be 19 year old players that are eligible.

I agree with OB, Hextall's approach is exactly the one I want them to take. It's basically the same approach Detroit has used and they have arguably been the most successful NHL franchise over the last 25 years.

There is no need to rush any prospect into NHL before they are ready.

- BiggE

I agree with Hextalls approach, but man I really want Provorov in Philly this year. I'd be okay with fewer minutes, easier assignments, and even the ol healthy scratch. I clearly don't have any insight into the situation, but with the way he dominated last year it just feels like he could learn more on the Flyers

I think they should just throw the CHL teams some cash and tell them to go cry into a glass of maple syrup

Hopefully a handful of these prospects get it together while guys like G, Jake, Simmer and crew are still playing at a high level.

With Killorn signed at $4.45M AAV, #Lightning have $8.53M in estimated cap space. Still have to sign:
Namestnikov
Kucherov
Nesterov
Gourde

Namestnikov could be a gem of a player. But he plays center, so not sure he's the guy we should try to pry. He can be signed cheap for 2 years anyway or something. Kucherov we know is getting his big $6+ contract. Really it's seeming like Johnson or Palat is bye bye after next year. Drouin has his contract coming in too next year. I don't know how they could afford Johnson and Palat and they'd have to choose. Palat would be the PERFECT player for our team. Extremely strong 2-way left winger. Junior linemate of Coots.

Can we stop saying we want to replicate the Detroit model? They have been a poopty drafting team the last decade for the most part, and before that they relied on 15th round Euro gems. The reason their prospects have been so seasoned lately is because they haven't been A quality prospects not because they're patient or something. Or because they're Euros overseas. And an argument could still be made they wasted prime years of a few guys like Gus Nyquist. We know now that guys actually peak sooner.

I seem to also remember someone named Dylan Larkin playing at age 19 just this past year.

This is why I hate that teams don't do offer sheets. Why not offer sheet Kucherov right now? Is there anyone who wouldn't give up two firsts for him (other than cellar dwellers)?

They've also gotten lucky that their best players have aged so well. Lidstrom was one of the best defenseman in hockey up until he retired at 42. Datsyuk and Zetterberg remained very good (when healthy).

I pray to god they miss the playoffs this year so that stupid streak finally ends and people stop kissing their asses. They've been treading water for years and continually sneak into the playoffs because their old heads still play like top line talent.

It's crazy that the Flyers could offer $7.5 mil for Kucherov and only give up a 1st, 2nd, 3rd (right?). Tampa can't afford that. If they do manage to afford it.....offer sheet the next year for Palat for 6+.

We know why they don't offer sheet. It's because they don't want to sour relationships. We should threaten to make an offer sheet and then try to Trayden+ for Kucherov.
