If I'm being honest, I really see this trade as a mostly lateral move. The Rangers are going to save money for 1 year and then pay Zibanejad exactly what they were paying Brassard. 2nd round pick helps I guess, but I'm not overly impressed with this one.

I thank Brassard for his service he was a very good player for us, but time to move on.

I'm relieved it was Brassard though and not Stepan. I will say that much.
