It is pretty funny though. My boss is a Flyers season ticket holder. My job interview a few years back was basically a conversation about how much we both hate Sidney Crosby and the Penguins |

Yea I knew when I left the interview I had the job. Nothing else really came up during it - TPC
I didn't even have an interview. Knew the president of the company, basically got a phone call " Want to work for us for more than you are making now?" |

Yeah but my previous job for 7 years was a 1hour 45 minute trip on a good day. On a bad day which was 50/50 was over 2 hours. On a Friday in the summer, forget it, I was looking at the least 3 hours to get home. |

Kind of weird, he was 925k last year, an rfa, but the Flames didn't give him an offer so he became a ufa and got a cheaper salary. I guess once you are a ufa you can go down in salary and if you are an rfa you have to get a minimum increase? - mdw7413
I think you are required to give a restricted player a qualifying offer that is at a minimum 10% more than their current salary to retain their RFA status. If you don't, then the player becomes a UFA.
I guess the Flames decided Jooris wasn't worth more than 925k+10% for some reason? They didn't qualify him and now he can sign with any team...but no other team gave him an offer it seems besides us at league minimum.
There's probably something wrong with him that is scaring every team away. Ribeiro had that too, but he turned out to be a bargain pickup. Not saying Jooris will be anything close to that, but he could be a solid bottom 6 guy for us if he figures his poop out. |

Hopefully he is
Total speculation but maybe he had a drug problem or something so teams stayed away. Whatever caused every other team in the league to stay away, hopefully he overcomes that and ends up being a good player for us |

I got a call like that a few weeks after I got laid off in the spring, well for about the same $ as I was making, and I asked if I could start in the fall.
Boss asked if I wanted the job or not.
It was a customer I had 2 weeks before my last day, and I said I'd never be back here again.
Was looking forward to a shorter commute than :45 to 1:15, but audiobooks and podcasts make all the difference.
Damn, I had just torn the garage apart to build my shop, and 6 years later it's in just about the same condition. |

Yeah, kind of odd that we were the only team to show interest. Maybe this is his last chance and wants to prove himself. |

Thanks for the info about the salary stuff.
I don't know, Flames fans seemed to like him as a good bottom 6 guy. |

I just read a Flames fansite report card on Jooris. Seems his shooting percentage and scoring was way down this year, but his PK was still solid. Flames felt they had better prospects in the pipeline. Maybe worse line mates? Still seems like a good pickup. Going to be a battle to see how our 3rd/4th line pans out. |

Yeah I read his scouting report before. Seems like a good defensive forward, has some offense, and can play in the dirty areas. Excellent skater too. |
