yes, he doesnt want to be here anyways....nor does the team want him.
But as a GM you'd have to be a supreme a--hole to trade a guy whose wife is pregnant and expecting any day - SMBDragon
$5 million/year would make up for it.
So he's out of town a bit more for a couple months (from TDL to end of season).
Hire a nanny, cook, cleaner, fly in family and friends for the wife...problem solved.

I am not saying I necessarily want him but he would be okay if he fit the room. Does he? I don't know.
I am all for moving on but he scores. I hope he gets back to that. - thundachunk
I always got a sense that him and the Sedin's didn't see eye to eye and that he didn't really get along with the majority of the team.
Just a feeling, remember hearing an interview with Daniel who seemed to be throwing some shade his way and just body language stuff, he's a bit wooden.

do you have children?
You never want to miss the birth of your children. Nothing ever replaces that.
Burrows still has some left in the tank don't count him out. I think he has a better chance than Etem. - thundachunk
Burrows is a classic 4th liner now & can move up as needed if playing well.
Idc about his contract tbh but he has good use for us still.
Etem can look at him to beat him out or its sayonara.

I am usually the one to say exactly this but imo veterans deserve a little more respect when it comes to that kind of thing.
Example; FA gave up his flight to get Burrows home for the birth of his daughter. That to me is respectful. The birth of one child is very important. The career of a hockey player is very short but some things supersede that.

yes.
i'm not saying miss the birth (players often miss games to be there for that) and being on the Canucks does not guarantee that you'll be in town....

oh totally. i'm not saying call him into practice and bagskate em when his wife is due, just saying that accepting a trade and moving to another city after the kid is born is not some crazy expectation.

This. Things went bad during my wife's 2nd birth. If I wasn't there I feel I may have lost them both. The birth of a child is not something to be treated as not a big deal.
