Just not very smart people. A big pet peeve of mine are people that listen to music while they drive... using headphones. Why? Just why

Yup... if the liver and kidney isn't taking care of this, then you have problems beyond what 7 days of drinking pureed kale will help you with...

Agreed. We put a nice pioneer deck/amp and some harman/kardon speakers in our car... the sound quality is (frank)ing phenomenal, and you can listen to it at reasonable volume and still have a great sound

And this here is the problem. Not once did I say the driver doesn't have to be aware, show where I did please. Pedestrians/bikes seem to think they are allowed to cross against the lights whenever it permits and don't hold any accountability. A driver is turning on light, he gets his clear from on coming traffic, starts his turn on a yellow, and blamo. Somebody decides to cross even though we learn when we're 5 to not cross against a light.

I mean, getting hit by a car is enough punishment for their stupidity.

This is why I'm a firm believer of dash cams.

In the early 80s, my mother went out and bought a Sony Walkman II. Her plan was to wear it while driving to work so that she could listen to classical music.

The entire family quickly convinced her that this was probably not a great idea.

But here's the great thing: she no longer had any use for it. And somehow (I have no idea how) I managed to snag it (I had two older brothers and an older sister).

It was da bomb.

Everyone else in junior high had crappy knock-offs - Panasonic or maybe JIL that they had bought at Consumer's Distributing.

I had the Sony Walkman II!

The orange headphones were the key. And that weird case? You could load in 2 C or D batteries and it was an external power supply.

Seriously, I was the franking man in junior high.

Sadly, it's been all downhill since then.

Nothing to do with anything you said, but I haven't paid much attention to the Tenor singing what he did at the ASG. So I finally read up on it, what he said and reading the uproar. I guess he's a racist? Because he undermined that Black lives thing by saying all lives do? Is that what some are saying? Maybe it's not the best topic, I'm sure Dozzer will delete if needs to be.

The whole thing it much like the "Don't hunt, or you shouldn't hunt thing "

God's creatures don't hurt them....

Just a few miles out of town, some residents put up a big fuss about deer hunting. Even though they in the middle of the country... So, people stopped going there to hunt, out of respect.

Now a few years later they are begging people to come back and hunt, the deer population is out of control and they are hitting them with their cars like crazy. One poor guy hit 9 in the past 2 years, and can't get car insurance any longer.

And no hunters will go back, wonder why.

That's fair but an equal burden has to be placed on the pedestrian (coming from an occassional driver in Toronto)

Some pedestrians tend have a sense of entitlement (for example: hop off the subway and race across the street while the metre is counting down), and will walk willy nilly into traffic, drivers will get angry, then proceed to drive irresponsibly and erratically. A self perpetuating cycle of hostility between drivers and pedestrians

What the city needs to do is reinforce, at key intersections, the fact that pedestrians should not be attempting to cross the street when the metre is counting down. That is supposed to be an opportunity for vehicles to clear the intersection, so it doesn't clog. Mind you, I run across the street when it's counting down all the time, but still, it would go a long way just to tell people to try and build that behaviour of waiting

It's the drivers looking to turn right onto a busy street, so they are looking left to spot a gap in traffic.

THEY NEVER FRANKING LOOK RIGHT BEFORE THEY TURN!

If I run to work in the morning, I carry a referee's whistle. I have to blast it at least twice in 6 km - every time.

Funny thing is I thought drivers would get mad and give me the finger - but everyone seems to actually appreciate it (I'm not kidding).

You ever been to the intersections at Yonge and Bloor or Yonge and Dundas? With the scrambles where pedestrians can walk wherever the hell they want?

Little known fact: the guy who originally came up with the idea wanted it so that the scramble would be the only way pedestrians could cross. That way, cars could make right turns without being impeded by pedestrians - so the intersections wouldn't get jammed.

When you think about it, it makes a helluva lot of sense.

Which is why the City of Toronto didn't do it.

Yeah, the issue is that it is perceived to undermine the BLM movement. The thing that is so often missed by those who say "but surely ALL lives matter" is that BLM isn't looking to create inequality in the opposite direction, just to highlight the fact that there are too many instances of shoot first, question later involving the PD's here in the US, and maybe getting people to view all lives as equal is a great start...

There are plenty of morons on both sides but cars can kill. A pedestrian walking when it's yellow is significantly less of a big deal than a driver almost hitting someone.

Did not know that, it would make much more sense, and yes that intersection is a disaster. When I was in school, I worked a summer job where we'd go downtown often for deliveries. I had a buddy of mine take a right turn at that intersection in a 5 ton truck... One of the more terrifying experiencing I've had while being in a vehicle
