No way. Least fans have been pointing out for weeks how strong their forward ranks are....none of Stammer, J T, or Vesey would be guaranteed top 6 minutes. They would have to earn it.

HA, good question.

I grew up in Buffalo, and have always been an avid fan so definitely the Sabres.

BUT, there is way more interest out here in hockey than most (or even I) thought there would be. A buddy of mine still plays in a local league but the hard part is there aren't many rinks, though many are hoping that an NHL team will help add more rinks to the area. I didn't pre-register for season tickets (I think they've sold something like 13,000 season packages so far) but can't wait to finally see more live games.

I played in a hockey tournament there a few years ago. The rink (two rinks) was waaaaaaay the hell out at the edge of town. It took us about an hour to get a taxi ride back after each game - no cabs wanted to come all the way out to pick us up.

But I did get to see Steffi Graf drop her kid off for figure skating lessons!

It might not be this coming season... but once that young core starts to get some experience under their belts that team is going to be damn good.

Edit: Especially if the goalies are as good as projected. Having Reimer-lite in net for more than 30 games hurts them a lot.

I know NSH had a top 6 spot open for him.. and NSH>TOR.. so he has to be at least as good as Matthews or JVR..
