Jake technically played better with Couturier than he did with Giroux...I think the timing of it all makes it a bit unreliable though
The trend is the same over the last 4 years...its fun to look at stuff like this
Elite or upper echelon Voracek has the highest corsi over the last 4 years among Flyers - YuenglingJagr
And he's top ten in the league for forwards in CF% Rel TM.

McPhee thinks they can make the playoffs in year one.
That's going to be tough to pull off. - mayorofangrytown
It's also stupid and will likely set them back even more.
They should be offering to take albatross contracts for young talent and draft picks. |

Assuming no trades, I still think the best bet is to try something along these lines:
Schenn-Giroux-Simmonds
Laughton/Raffl-Couturier-Voracek
Raffl/Laughton-Cousins-Weise
Lyubimov/PEB/VDV-Gordon-Read
Or
Raffl-Giroux-Voracek
Schenn-Couturier-Simmonds
Laughton-Cousins-Weise
Lyub/PEB/VDV-Gordon-Read - Jsaquella
I think the team is more balanced if Laughton finds a home on that second line |

Flyers have $6,116,209 in cap space with Schenn and Manning as RFAs scheduled for arbitration.
Scoring depth isnt the issue. Lack of scoring in the top 6 is. - jak521
How many teams had five forwards pace for 50+ points last season? |

We only had 3 forwards with more than 15 goals. That is a problem. Having a 4th liner pot 12 goals, and all of your third liners in double digits isnt bad. You need to have two lines where you get at least four 20 goal scorers. Jake & Couts should be able to do that.
If we can get 20 goals from G, Jake, Simmer, Schenn and Couts we will be completely fine. - jak521
These are such arbitrary numbers |

Two 60 point players. Two players a year removed from being top 5 and top 10 in the league in scoring. Another player who was on pace for over 50 points. Keep in mind, 60 points is the new elite. Is this really the case?
The bottom 6 was a horrendous eye averting mess. Looking at the top 6 vs. the bottom 6, their stats jumped off a cliff. It dragged down all the team averages. I'm confident in the top 6. - Mononoke
I really see the 3rd line as being the issue...It isnt a top 6 bottom 6 thing for me. We have enough high end scorers and can actually make a very, very good top 6...but it always comes at the expense of the third line.
It either needs to be a guy stepping up and finding a home in the top 9 like I mentioned, or they need to wait it out for prospects. I dont think UFAs are the solution. |

Hes probably only read the ridiculous "Mock Expansion Draft" rosters that people keep putting out....reality check will come when he realizes what he actually has to pick from |

No.
I'd go as high as a 3rd, but it's not worth giving up more than that. In a year or 2, with some money retained, they will be able to move him.

I feel like this is the reason expansion teams struggle for so long out of the gate. They put together a front office of big names and claim to "want to win sooner rather than later."
Every expansion franchise should be looking to compete 3-4 years down the line at the earliest. - PhillySportsGuy
Yeah, I'd be much more impressed if they had grabbed somebody like Chayka or Yzerman or some dude out of Siberia than bring in Old Retread to establish legitimacy. |

Do you think Columbus would trade an unprotected 2017 1st in order to get rid of Hartnell and Clarkson (assuming they both waived their NMCs)? |

McPhee was GM of that team for like 20-years... can't really think of anything he really did all that well besides hit on a couple of lottery picks, and fleece the Flyers on that Eminger trade. Forsberg for Erat, lol. |

I think as soon as you are losing or trading assets to get rid of bad contracts you are only compounding your mistake. With the trades we have seen in the last couple years, I don't see how they couldn't work out of those contracts some other way.
The two most obvious examples are Detroit moving back 4 spots to get rid of Datsyuk and the Flyers packaging VLC (Flyers retaining 50% and his TV) with Schenn |

If Foley wanted his team in the playoffs in a big hurry he should have lured Clarke out of retirement.
Not sure they want to go the Hinke direction. |
